Here is my favorite .22. It is a black powder muzzle loader, home made, shoots 30 grain air rifle slugs using 5 grains of 4f. Dime sized groups at 35 yards. Works for me. I use this gun to teach the youth group in my club how to load and shoot muzzle loaders

A 22 rifle that makes me smile.

My uncle and grandfather enjoyed hunting. Thanksgiving weekend 1958 I was 8 years old. They took me hunting upstate NY. My uncle's friend Charlie owned land and a country house where we went. Charlie let me drag the Remington 510P up and down the Catskill Mountains everyday and in the afternoons I was given a box of ammunition and actually got to shoot. The adults mentored me. All good things must come to an end but as we left to head back to Brooklyn Charlie gave me that rifle. My first rifle and today at 71 I still have and treasure it. Yeah, looking at it always brings a smile to my face. Great memories of a Thanksgiving long, long ago. :)

Today there is likely a dozen 22 rifles but none as important as that first rifle.

My latest AR22 build sure puts a smile on my face. I used a CMMG heavy 16" barrel and dedicated bolt. I did add a Bore Buddy bolt weight and pressure plug. It is very accurate out to 50 yards with CCI standard.

I know I posted it earlier, but this one certainly made me smile today.

Having just reworked my scopes & added a bipod, of course, I had to go zero her. I loaded up and headed for the range. I took a bulk pack of Federal for the rough zeroing, and some Norma (that she seems to like) for the finer work. I zeroed at 50 yards, like the scope's user manual says to do. Anyway, I know a 50 yard target isn't anything to write home about for some of you folks, but I was pleased. I grew up on shotguns and plinking, so it's been pretty recent that I've started trying to put holes in the holes.

The red dot is 1.5", and this is 10 rounds at 50 yards.
