Lipsey special edition J frame in 38 and 32mag

Taurus has a 3 inch 327 revolver coming out. Caleb Giddings has posted about it.

Well **** he does. I snagged this off his insta gram (At least I think it's his Instagram I have no idea how it works)

the Taurus 327 getting the 856 defender package is very interesting to me.

Looks like I will be picking up more new .32s this year than I thought I would.

I do really like the extra weight of the Taurus 327 or the Charter Arm Professional for just such a reason when I am backpacking and have Buffalo bore hard casts loaded. That 22-24oz window really helps.

.327 in the Taurus 327 is ridiculous and I just can't imagine shooting it out of an LCR 327 because of the weight difference. Shooting .410/45 colt out of a bond arms derringer is more comfortable.

Hornady Critical Defense however in this lipsey j-frame with a nice tritium night sight seems like night out on the town carry piece.

LCR handles it better than you might think but it's not fun.

The recoil & blast are severe enough that I prefer a mild .327 or hot .32 mag from mine.

That's why I only fire spicy 32 H&Rs out of my 327 LCR.

If you want to shoot 327s, get an SP101 with a 3" barrel.

I carry my Charter Undercoverette instead of my LCR. CA is lighter and and handles the H&R just fine. I put a DAO hammer on it. I also have the CA Professional. 7 shots in 32 H&R. I hear all the horror stories about Charter Arms but I guess I've been lucky with my small sample size of 2.

.327s I reserve for my SP101 4.2" and Single Seven.

It would be nice to have a higher quality J frame size .32 H&R. We'll see how long the undercoverette lasts. I've only got a couple of thousand rounds through it so far. Mostly cast lead 95 grain SWC. Seems to be holding up so far.

Apparently I don't feel recoil the same way that everyone else does.

Shooting 327 ammo out of my 4" SP101 is unexciting. Shooting 327 ammo out of my Taurus 2" snub (Model 327?) was really NBD to me. Shooting 357 out of my friend's LCR seems much more abrupt.

I guess it's all because of hand size or something.

My 642 is my most carried handgun lately. I'd gladly replace it with a 32 magnum version. :)

I shot medium power 115 .327 from my Taurus and it wasn't some .22 level of pleasant recoil, but it wasn't terrible either.

This was with the stock grips, I'm sure better grips would improve the experience, but the lighter LCR will always have more flip to it than the Taurus, one reason I find the Taurus to be better for .327.

The .327 Fed mag is a handful in my steel 3" Ruger SP101. I wouldn't relish shooting it in a 16 oz J-frame, even if the metallurgy would handle the pressure. I have a Charter Undercoverette in .32 H&R mag, and the recoil is acceptable. Looking forward to the new 432UC, and hoping it will be readily available soon.

Good point on the frame material.

Their 632 is a 5 shot 327, so maybe that is why they did it in 32mag. This 32mag seems to be a 6 shot, I think I would rather have the extra round.

I was looking to send a Smith to Gemini for their "pocket protector" package; $500. Gets you porting if that is your thing, but no sight improvements. The Lipsey sights are a real plus to me as, so often, they are just milled into the barrel and your options are limited.

Will watch for how many they make and street price as I would like one. Will likely buy whichever one I can find first as it is a toss up to me between 5 38's or 6 32's. I think I would prefer the 32 but not picky here.

Also, Taurus has their 327 out now which is a 6 shot (and not a bad gun).
Who said the 632 is a five shot? My 632-2 is Six shots like all of them. I also shoot full power 327s in it all the time.

Good grief. First a blue Python, and now this? My "OK...Maybe I'll buy just ONE MORE GUN" list just got longer.

I bought a 100 year old Smith and Wesson "I" frame 32 a month or so ago. I've only fired 50 rounds through it, but I like the little thing. It's more a "fidget spinner" really, something keep on the desk and "fool with" at times, but darned if I don't like it. The things they talk about, sights, grips and such are the reason I wouldn't carry it but ...better sights, better grips, better trigger, better cartridge...maybe...

They also have released a LCR 327 with 3 inch barrel and external hammer.

Really now. I've coveted one ever since they came out with the 2" model. Honestly, one hasn't seen one or tried one but the reviews of the Taurus seem very favorable, especially at its price point.

Do you have anywhere that we can take a look at it? I've not seen any chatter anywhere yet.
Couldn't find the picture I saw, It was in someone's blog and a simple search didn't bring it up. Bing says it's made

Does anyone else find it strange that, for "sights regulation," Lipsey's and S&W used Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel Personal Protection .38 SPL +P 135 Grain for the .38 Special +P model, when this has either been discontinued or is otherwise totally unavailable anywhere? I have a preorder in for the .38 model with my local dealer, so I'm not trying to bash them over this; I just don't understand why they used such a unicorn for a benchmark instead of something more readily available (or actually available at all).

You mean it's not just my own self, who can't find it anywhere?

That weight would put it near the middle of 125 gr and 148 gr,pretty common loads. Should be fine.

A light 158 gr might shoot just a little high, not a big deal. A strong 158 gr higher, but that wouldn't be the preffered load in these guns. Hard on them anyway.

I'm thinking the closest equivalent might be something like the Winchester Supreme Elite .38 Special +P 130 Grain JHP.
