Glocks are too thick for me, for CCW. I need a single stack with a 4" barrel. I like the Glock reliability, I hate the trigger. Anybody have any ideas for a tough single action with a great trigger?

Any firsthand experiences with those models? Damn, I forgot to mention I would like a pisto
l that can be available in either 9mm or .45 ACP.

The best thing about 9x18 cartridge is the Makarov pistol. Very tough accurate gun and you might be lucky enough to run into Hornady or Fiocchi JHPs for it.

Glock 36, kahr, kel tecs, walther pps, small 1911's. Hmmm... I think that's it.

Although the OP states:
I like the Glock reliability, I hate the trigger.
in the next ten posts three different posters recommend a Glock. Incredible.

I will try to make this a thoughtful post.

Yes, I have three Kahrs (PM9, P45, PM45). Trigger is long but exceptionally smooth and light. I have many rounds through the PM9, almost as many through the P45, and only a few through the PM45 (just got it). In the past three years the Kahrs have seen 75-80% of my carry time, which is every day.

I also have a Kimber alloy framed 3" 1911 (and have owned others). I shoot the 1911 better than anything, but the finish on the Kahrs rivals the Glocks' (yes, I've owned several). As much as I love the Kimbers, their finish is not as durable as the poly framed guns.

I have owned half a dozen HK P7s over the last 25+ years, and they are a great handgun, although only in 9mm--the .40s are large and unwieldy. Great trigger, quite accurate, and they are one of the great values these days. A $1200 pistol for ~$600. Downside? A tad heavy (all steel), the blued finish is not terribly durable, the ergos are "love 'em or hate 'em"...I love them.

Three very different choices...three very good choices in a single-stack.

I was in the same position. HKs and Kahrs are impossible to get here, so I narrowed it down to the S&W 3913/908 (or 4516/457) and the Sig P225/P6. Bought the P6 because it was cheaper and I liked the controls.

The P225 is a nice gun. Not too big, not to small. Full DA/SA, no safety, single-stack grip. Only problem is that parts and mags are expensive, and the P6 version needs a new hammer spring and some don't feel JHPs.

Most people I talked to preferred the 3913 for actual carry. The 908 is the value version. The 4516 and 457 are similar guns in .45.

I might have gone with an HK P7 if I had the chance.

In 9mm - H&K P7, Kahr TP9, S&W 3914, Sig 225/P6, Walther P5(mind as well include the whole class from the German Police trials),
In .45ACP - Sig 220, Kahr T/TP45, Dan Wesson CBOB

Oops, my initial read missed the part about being single action...ignore the colored edit

The Glocks aren't too thick to carry concealed. This presumes a good holster is used, of course.

If that's the main reason you want something thinner, then do some spec comparisons and see how much thinner, if at all, another choice may be.

The G-36 is mere 1000th's thinner than the 19, (about the thickness of one or two playing cards) which would never be noticed in the real world.

Since the OP apparently doesn't want a Glock, then the thinnest options out there are the various Kahr models.

What are we talking about here? 1/4"? With the right belt and holster you can pretty much carry whatever you want to. Buy the gun you like that you shoot the best. Within reason of course. Just don't wear them tight shirts. That said, Kahr makes a great gun. IMHO
