a tough single action with a great trigger?

Pistols that I have in 9mm Luger and .45 ACP that are single stack, have barrels 4" in length (or thereabouts) and would recommend.

P225
P239
Ed Brown SFC

Here's a photo of the Ed Brown which has the best trigger of all listed, but SIG's DA/SA trigger is fine with me too.

The Kahrs are nice, but I do prefer the all steel models. They are just compact alternatives to my bigger autos, which include Glocks. I just don't care for the supercompact Glocks. These two have been carry and shot a lot over the years, without any issues.

Ok, if you like everything else about a glock but the trigger, why not change the trigger? For $20-30 shipped you can change the trigger to almost anything that suits your taste. Want a more dao? Want a heavier or lighter pull (3-12#)? Want a smooth face or even metal trigger? It is all out there and for dirt cheap.

All that said I have two single stacks at the moment that I fully trust as they have been through better than several hundred rounds each without a single failure: a Feg AP9 and a Keltec PF9. The PF9 falls under your length requirements. The Feg has been ridiculoisly impressive to me. Feeds anything, accurate, fairly light weight. The bad is that it can bite, grip depending, and the stock trigger sucked. I put in an 11# spring from wolff for about ten bucks and it now has a better trigger than my ppk/s. The sights suck compared to the walther however. Is it my carry gun? Nope it is my truck gun. For $167 + $12 in springs, it is a great, reliable value.

PPS seem to have the bugs worked out fyi and they are worth a look. Good luck!

1858, that is a beautiful gun.

But is that really a daily carry? I can't see a lick of wear anywhere. After riding around in holsters my carry guns look, well, carried.

OK guys, really. How are your carry guns looking so nice? I am careful with my carry guns and use good holsters. But after a month or so of daily carry I get holster wear, shiny spots on the edges, dings on the grips and such. Have you got some sort of gun force field?

been carrying the EMP for 2 years, the Kobra Carry for 1 year and just got the Guardian in Sept.
they pretty much stay in the holster unless i'm shooting or cleaning them.
those pics were taken about a month ago.

My carry guns look much like that, unless I'm using a ill-fitting holster.

I can see the wear on them and it looks pretty normal. The wear on the EMP is more subtle because the stainless slide shows it differently

The Kahr CW series has a 3.64" barrel. Not quite 4" but they're tough little carry guns. My CW40 has seen quite a bit of carry and range time. Not a bad price either. You can get 9mm and .45.

The trigger is VERY different from a Glock. It's a double-action trigger but very smooth.

I'll take a long look at Kahr. They might be the right choice for me.
