Looking for Gunbroker alternatives...

I'm guessing they don't offer free accounts anymore. I tried logging in to mine, which I haven't done for nearly forever, and couldn't get logged in
Which I guess means that it’s $4 (or whatever) per month even if you just want to occasionally look. Which I’m not gonna do

Thx

Man, I cannot believe how quiet it is at gunauction. I signed up there about a decade ago but haven't been in the market until recently. Maybe it's my narrow scope of interest, or my lack of searching skills. I used to type "1858" in the search box and get pages of results. Today there's one antique revolver that's been up for maybe a year, and a wood plane. Hahahaha!

Might be a good place to SELL an 1858 Remington, huh?

Ive had nothing but trouble with gunbroker. Sure, lots of guns listed but quite a lot are scams. Try listing something and see how many "fees" you can smacked with. Non-Paying bidder.....dont worry theyll still charge you the "final value fee".

That money can be retrieved and will be refunded. I had that two times last year. The only thing that I find outrageous on Gunbroker is that the buyer pays a one percent compliance fee that is hidden within the sales tax. Apparently this fee is levered by Gunbroker for their efforts to collect and pay the sales taxes.

Imagine every retailer would do that, even though they only deal with their own state comptroller's office ...

I used to do Gunbroker and the likes. With all of the scams, taxes and fees now involved, I have moved to my 2 LGS. If their is something I am looking for they both will keep an eye out and let me know what kind of deal can be made. It pays to frequent your LGS and become friends with them. I also use their consignment deal for selling. Yeah they get their percentage but they also know the market and as of late I get what I want and then some in most cases. They are also the ones that have to deal with tire kickers, transfers etc...ymmv

Anybody who knows of a descent place to look a
Sounds like what you’re looking for is a ‘Sotheby’s for Guns’ – where only rare and expense firearms are auctioned with a four-digit minimum bid requirement.

Perhaps such an auction site exists, I don’t know.

Otherwise, you’ll just need to search the other auction/classified sites mentioned.

I have had several guns that I had listed on Gun Broker show up on Armslist at half price. All were nice, high dollar items, and to add insult to injury, the scammer used my pictures and descriptions. Beware!
Same here. I was looking for a bolt assembly. I posted photos of what I was looking for on numrich. A scammer on Armslist tried to use my own photos to scam me. Luckily the scammer was a little dumber than I am.

This why I stopped selling on eBay. Had somebody steal my text, my pics, the whole nine yards, and then he underpriced me and sold junk. I've never tried selling a gun online but I may dip my toe in the water soon.

I recall reading about a technique for protecting pictures in online auctions. Something about using layers, with a blank layer on the top of the image. Apparently if someone tries to steal it they only get the blank layer. Too complicated for me but maybe some smart young whippersnapper can enlighten us.

Just google or duck duck go your state and firearms forum’s. In ga we have GON. Bought and sold a few on there. It’s easy.

Wow the auto correct got me!

I just looked at Armslist for the 2nd time since they started charging. Every ad I looked at was an overpriced pawnshop. Seriously overpriced.
The only good thing about Armslist was the individual ads and looks like very few individuals are willing to pay the $8 a month.

Little of the topic.
I sold a gun on GB and first time used their highly advertized GunBroker Pay. The Gun was sold on January 14, the buyer paid on January 17. Just today I got confirmation that the transaction came through. And I contacted GuBroker Pay yesterday and today. Makes no sense at all to use that site. Money orders would come faster.

There all varying degrees of crap, but the least obnoxious (in my experience) is Gunbroker. YMMV.
