any restrictions on what we can bring
In addition to the mags as already mentioned, they allow slow fire only so if you have any full-auto there is really no reason to bring them. Why risk a several thousand dollar investment (extra wear and tear, the chance of damage, the chance of theft) when you can't use it any differently than a semi-auto version. Also, shotguns are allowed, but slugs only.

Geez, even our state run Tennessee Wildlife range allows full auto fire. About they only thing that gets there knickers in a twist is shooting their target holder and making sure pistols stay on the pistol range. Everything else is pretty much fair game.

I asked the first time I went to the range, what exactly do you allow to be shot here. Do you have any restrictions on Evil Black Guns? How about full auto?

There answer was as long as you are not shooting a bazooka you are good to go. They even allow shotguns with buckshot but I will not use these as unless we are talking very short range some of the shot will hit the target stands and I don't want to contribute to the damage, when it seems as though enough people manage to hit them with bullets.

23rd weekend no go for me

I'll be in PA visiting relatives.

I don't know when I'll make another THR meetup:(

I was at Hap Baker about a month ago. The pistol range was pretty cool. The swinging target things didn't bother me, and you don't have to wait around for a cease fire to change the targets.

I got there at 9:10 and just missed walking my target out for the first string. Getting there that early meant no wait.

Well, it looks like I'll be moving to Phoenix instead. A company there made me a really good offer. At least I'll get to stay in a "red" state for a while longer.

They dont really enforce the mag law, i believe it was just put in place to keep the media away.Atleast, someone said the one range officer old them that. I mean, where do you get 20 or 10 round AK mags, when theres tons of 30's out there. Ive seen the 30 rounders shot at hap, and nobody said anything.

Agreed, nobody really cares about the mag size; it's just to appease the sheeple.

Norton and I were there today exercising the rifles, and we REALLY enjoyed the new pistol range.

No ceasfires on the pistol range!

Guys .... seems I may not make this shoot .... I have a long distance PA shoot on 30th, which is a must and the weekend of your shoot is way too full of commitment ..... much is due to having had an ol' buddy staying 2 weeks which lost me a loada time, plus, I have a seemingly intractable shoulder problem of late which is screwing up my schedule and sleep rather badly - doesn't make shooting any too comfortable either!

I haven't written it off yet but .... could be I'll just have to try for next one. I do look forward to using that pistol range ... sounds good.

still happening?

I was wondering the same thing. I may be able to make it this weekend or next. I really want to get some practice with the new trigger on my rifle before hunting season (does anyone have a trigger pull scale that they wouldn't mind bringing?).

Still on?

Well RobG and myself now have plans to show up at Hap's around noon. We finally got clearance from our wives to go have some fun. (I'm afraid to ask what it'll cost us later though!)

I'll be bringing along:

K-31
M1903A3
M1 Garand
DSA FAL
AR-180B

and a couple of handguns to try out the pistol range.

-LeadPumper

Hmmm...LeadPumper, if you're bringing that FAL I may want to run a few rounds through it. I have around 100 rounds of .308 that I can bring.

I can also bring my Garand....let's have an M1 beauty contest:D

Oooo Oooo Oooo I have an M1 Garand can I play??????

So where is this Hap Baker range anyway. Jule's and I will be in town by Saturday evening and assuming we having nothing else we have to do on Sunday we would love to join you folks.

If it would be possible could somebody PM me or Sheslinger their phone number or something to that effect so we could give you a call on Saturday evening or Sunday.

What are the range fees?

Chris

Range fees are $10/day out of Carroll County residents or $5/day for in county.

The range is located on Rt 140 in Westminster. Take 795 from the Baltimore Beltway until it ends. Continue onRt 140 towards Westminster.

Look for Reece Fire Company (about 10-12 minutes) and then look for the Carroll County landfill on your right. Turn into landfill and follow signs to firearms facility.

We are in town and will probably join you tomorrow at the range if you are all still going.

Let us know what time.

Thanks
Chris

OH and if it matters to anybody we will bring the following.

AR15
AR15 .22long Rifle upper.
HK USC with greasegun mag conversion and Kobra red dot.
M1 Garand
SIG P226
Walther P99

So if anybody wants to bring any ammo to run through them they are more than welcome to.

The USC is .45 and both pistols are 9mm

Hi all,

Doesn't look like I'm going to make it tomorrow. My wife wants me to take her to shoot her brand new 1911 that I just picked up for her and she has to be back to work by Noon. I'm also planning on going to the PA shoot next weekend so I better get some things done around the house.

Have a good time.....

Have a great time y'all ..... sorry I won't be able to meet some of you and see others again. My work schedule has gone bananas and so I definitely could not have made it - tho have cast next Saturday in conrete, work or no!:D I will still see if another time will be workable.

Paul ... hope you can make it there to W&W next Saturday .. will look forward to seeing you and hopefully many others too.

Warning .. I am RO on pistol range .... and you know how easily ol' phart Limeys get pissed!!:p :p :D :D (J/K!!)

I've come down with a bug that has been going around at work. It is a bit into it so hopefully I'll be better enough later this afternoon. I do seem to be getting over it, but I still feel pertty miserable and I am up at 4:30am with the insomnia that can come with a virus (you know, when it wakes you up every 30min or so). Between feeling "under the weather" and lack of sleep I'm not sure if it is 100% safe for me to be shooting (that full concentration thing). Hopefully I'll be able to be there, we'll see how I'm feeling later. If not, I'll have to catch everyone next time.

I think with the rain and feeling a little under the weather as well we will take a pass as well.

If anybody wants to get together during the week for dinner or drinks that would be cool as well.

Thanks
Chris

Well since the wife isn't back yet and I have both boys by myself I'm out too. Now if they had just learned how to load magazines I'd bring em with me ;)

OK, several of us couldn't go at the last minute, and with the rain I'm sure there are others who had planned to make it but won't be there but haven't yet posted as such. If those who made it can post here whether or not they'd be up for another shoot soon (raindate?) maybe some of us can get together soon.

cslinger I'd be happy to get together for dinner if you and sheslinger wouldn't mind eating at one of the Pikesville area kosher restaraunts. Otherwise, we could get together for a beer or two after dinner time. Still, with my trying to get over something, Monday will probably be too early. How long are you in town?

Well, a good time was had by all...two of us.

Leadpumper and I took care of much therapy today. Pity no one else could show. I made a sign and everything so people could find us. Oh well.

Note to everyone - if you don't want to spend ALL day at the range, don't go on an October or November weekend. Way too many people sighting in rifles for hunts. We had to wait almost 2 hours to even get a lane. Didn't shoot pistols, but the pistol range looks alright.

Everything was reliable and as accurate as expected. Ciao.
