I, too, am Native American, as are my children. The next person that indicates "native-american" to be anything other than an american born within its borders should be strongly corrected in public. We are all Americans if you are born here and lets forget the hypenation based on former ethnic roots. If you are not born here you are a visitor unless you have applied for citizenship. If you are here illegally you should be arrested. Let's summarize shall we:
Born Here: Native American resident.
Born Elsewhere: Are visiting unless you have legally applied for citizenship.
Here Illegally: Subject to arrest and deportation.

Today on Rick Roberts' show, an engineer called in. He designed and built airplane interiors. Well his company decided it would be cheaper to hire mexicans (who ironically were educated here and then moved back to mexico.)
He said the saddest thing I've ever heard. Something to the effect of:
"I was the last American fired from the job that Americans won't do."
The last American fired from HIS company of course...yours is probably next.

It's sad to hear.
It's even sadder to live the experience.
Been there. Done that. It sucked. My family and I have not yet recovered from the loss of pay/benefits - three years later.
And most probably, it will happen to me again.

it is happening around here too i live i central texas jsut some 300 miles away form the border and belive me it happens here every day the jobs are being lost becuase it is cheaper to hire mexicans if they get deported there are three more ready to take his place. My father lives in england and he said they even figured out how to get there and he said when he first moved there about 3 years ago there was not a one now they are doing the same thing there that they are here...

i do believe that it is not only the illegal immagrants taht we have to watch for i am not saying all immagrants are bad people but i a islamic member went into mexico and said his name was juan gonzalez he could get a fake birth certifacate adn legally come into the us. now tell me that we are impossible to attack we leave ourselves open to the world for trade but at the same time we are open for attack...:banghead:

I support the boycott and hope they stay out of work for a month, or even a year. That will bankrupt Walmart and much of the nation's agribusiness, rightly punishing them for screwing over American workers. I don't have any hostility towards the illegals. But those who hire them, from big business to the fat animal who drives down to the corner and yells "dos, dos" so he can get some garden work done

The sad fact is, a lot of the gringos complaining about illegals are the same ones who do precisely that. Go down and grab a few illegals so they don't have to pay proper wages or taxes. I have nothing but hatred and contempt for those animals. They are traitors to the nation. The illegals aren't American to begin with, so they owe no duty to this country. If we let them come in, it's our fault. They're just taking advantage of us to make a buck and take it back home. I can't blame them for that.

They actually went up and interviewed one of these guys on CNN and he had the nerve to complain about the immigrants! Sitting there in the cab of a $35,000 Ford pickup breaking half a dozen state and federal laws--far more than the illegals themselves. I tell you, if I'd have been there I would have been sorely tempted to put a few holes in his engine block. If that's what the nation has come to, if that's what we've become, if we can't even tend to our own yards without getting a bunch of illegals from the corner, then we deserve to get taken over. We sure as hell don't deserve the title "American" anymore. Native or otherwise. Let the guy who's sweat is still mixing with the soil take over. And send the spoiled gringo packing.

+1 on looking into the problem makers, our government's blind eye and the big businesses that get their favors from our government, not the illegal pursuing a better life.
However, I feel that if you want to live in America, get the paperwork done and join us all in getting some of these enabling morons out of our government or go back where you came from.

The irony in all of this is that a secure border and rationalized immigration system would be the best thing for immigrants. If you leave the border wide open and give some blanket amnesty, you'll simply have another wave of illegals from central America and China come in to undercut the newly minted Americans! The folks who get the cheap labor are the winners. And since they include some of the largest backers of BOTH parties, we are unlikely to see a secure border in our lifetimes.
Now someone really gets it.
Employer sanctions are the only real solution.
THEN we can (and IMHO should) change our immigration laws to allow the people who want to come here and work, and for whom there IS work, to come legally, above-board.
Clearly, the economics of the situation are that there is demand for workers. As in the failing drug war, we can't stop the laws of supply and demand. But we can shift our laws to fit reality a bit better, and solve most of the problem (and divert law enforcement resources back to important things, like keeping real criminal/terrorist types, not Mexican peasants, from easily crossing the border).
