Just purchased a Winchester 1885, made by Miroku for the 2020 shot show, chambered in 300 PRC...

Screws in the barrel for the Talley mount are not drilled...

Talley mount when mounted on receiver is .055 away from the barrel.

called Talley, they explained that the front screws needed to be tightened on the mount before the rear... sent me to Winchester.

Called Winchester, they sent me a call tag...

I have purchased several new firearms, never had to send one back for repairs.. Has anyone else had this problem with Miroku?

I have several Miroku made Winchesters, one is Browning BL-22. I've never had a problem. Miroku has a well deserved reputation for making very nice guns, and many say they're better than the original Winchesters they are replicating. In fact if you buy a Winchester 1866, 1873, or 1892 and it says "WINCHESTER" on it it really is a Winchester since Miroku now makes them.

That being said, even top notch companies can make a lemon from time to time. Also, figure in covid19, which really hurt Japan where these guns are made, and it's no big surprise maybe a few more lemons make it out the door. You may have a "covid" gun if you recently bought a new one.

Uberti also makes fine repros of historic guns, and this virus has also hurt their production. They're still way behind. I've heard about a Winchester 1873 on this site that might be a covid gun that has problems. It happens.

Good luck getting yours up to "par.";)

I bought a brand new Browning SA22 (semi-auto .22 rifle) about 6 months ago and the iron sights and screw mounting holes were off center terribly, something like 10 degrees or more.

I sent it in to Browning and it’s been there since. Apparantly they are waiting on parts from Japan last time I contacted them two months back.

Miroku makes both Browning and Winchester.

I've never bought a new gun.
That's one way to avoid fresh off-the-line issues lol.
I haven't bought a used long gun in a while.
I tend to be an early adopter of stuff I think is cool, so it sometimes surprises me I haven't run into more of the teething issues......watch now that I've said that the new Rangers gonna fail to eject......

I've never bought a new gun.

I never did for a long time until I started buying stripped lowers.

The only new complete gun I bought was a Ruger American 450 Bushmaster......that had to be sent back for an excessively large throat. So yeah, Im over new guns too.

Every Miroku made gun I have had has been flawless. The Miroku Brownings were quite a bit nicer than the comparable Belgians. The Belgians had nicer bluing though. More blue and less black and not as shiny. The gloss is too glossy on the Miroku guns and the gloss laquered stocks are a necessary evil I guess since they dont seem to be going away.

This stock isnt like a Browning 1885. It is almost matte finish, and truly nice wood. I do like the engineering put into the action, and it is a nice product. Someone just missed a couple of screw holes. I am hoping it was "one of those things"... like a Friday Ford.. but not on the same scale.

Personally I've never seen a Miroku gun with what I would call a manufacturing defect. I own quite a few Mirokus.

I generally trust Talley, but I think the mount should sit flat on the receiver and barrel even without the holes drilled. Sounds to me like it maybe doesn't fit. Can you take a picture of the mount on the gun?

I've never bought a new gun.

I’ve had more issues with “new to me” used guns than new guns. Nothing that was not correctable but a pain just the same.

I have a Miroku Winchester 1873 (357 Mag) that shoots and functions well. Also I have several Miroku Browning shotguns that have been excellent performers.

I have witnessed both premium and junk work from Miroku - the good stuff is of great quality and the bad stuff is usually fit/ finish - function is usually all good. I have purchased two new rifles (both Miroku Winchesters) since COVID and both were returned to Arnold, MO. or Morgan, UT. for repair. The usual attention to detail just wasn’t there.

I have a 90s Miroku Win 52b, a 1999 M 1886 and a new M73. They have been flawless. The 86 is as accurate as any gun I have touched. Very impressed with the workmanship. I am sure yours will be made whole again. Happy Shooting.

I currently have several Miroku made Winchesters and Brownings. All but two were aesthetically perfect, and one had a sight problem.

I have a Winchester 94 Short Rifle .30-30 that came from the factory with a buggered left cartridge guide screw. Easy enough, I ordered one one from MWG and replaced it. Now it's aesthetically perfect.

The other is a Browning BL-22 Grade II Nickel Field. The checkering on the forend and stock is fuzzed up something fierce. I didn't really notice it until I took some close up photos. It's weird. If I hold it, it doesn't look that bad. If I look at photos, it's pretty bad. The checkering is good, but it's all fuzzed up. I don't know what to do about it, if anything. I really don't want to spend it back. I suppose it will wear as I handle it. Also, the field model BL-22 comes with a matte finish on the stock. But to get there it looks like someone took some steel wool and knocked the shine off a glossy stock. You can only see the swirls when the light hits it right. But they are there.

The last one was a newly purchased Browning SA22 semi-auto .22, The rear leaf site came floppy. It would fall down all on its own. I replaced that, too, instead of sending it back to the factory.

The price of the sight and the screw was under $30 and I didn't have to box up guns and ship them back for however long. But they shouldn't have come that way.

I have a flawless Browning Citori XS 12 gage, I have a flawless Winchester 1873 Sporter .45 Colt. I purchased a Winchester 1892 Trapper Takedown in .45 Colt last December - it is back at Winchester for the second time in six months - an aesthetic mess - fit/ finish is horrible - I am hopeful for a replacement or a refund.
