Last December, I purchased an 1892 Deluxe Takedown in .45 Colt that had to be immediately returned to Winchester for both cosmetic and mechanical problems. This rifle was returned twice and was eventually “junked” and replaced. When I received the replacement rifle, it had cosmetic problems and is now back at Winchester for repairs. I have now owned two samples of this rifle for about a year, never got to shoot one as it continues to live at the Winchester repair facility.
I just purchased an 1886 Short Rifle Takedown in 45-70 that arrived yesterday - guess what, it also has to be returned for a chip in the butt stock and the pistol grip cap being drilled way off center (the cap hangs off one side of the grip and has proud wood for about 1/8” on the other side). I had to ask myself - do they really look at these things before they ship them?
The balance of the rifle is perfect and has very nice wood but, it has to go back. Every time I call Winchester, I get no argument - they will fix it but I continue to own their product that lives at their repair facility - so back this one goes now.
As a side note, this 1886 is a brute of a lever action - one hefty piece of iron.
Anyway, am I just unlucky or has Miroku lost their manufacturing magic?

That is sad to hear, my Browning/Miroku fake Highwall is a well built gun
When I was active in BPCR they were a mainstay, less expensive than US made Sharps copies.

Everything I have heard is very positive. That being said I have only seen one "modern" Miroku lever in the flesh. It was beautiful but I didn't get to handle it.

I have several Miroku made firearms, three browning that were purchased over the counter at gun retailers that I had the opportunity to inspect the condition on these rifles before the purchases.
Then four Miroku made Winchesters that were purchased on the internet. I make sure that the seller has high quality photos and many of them, to insure that fit and finish are up to par.

Respectfully....
I would recommend this process for you going forward to lessen any future disappointments
Like others have said, there is a lemon here and there.
I do believe you have been unlucky as I have not come across a Miroku made firearm that had finish issues
Sorry to hear you have had these troubles

I just bought a Browning/Miroku Citori that needed fixing right out of the box. The forearm lever would not engage so I could not assemble the shotgun.

I wonder if they are having Chinese companies build them now?

I was not going to ship this one back without shooting it first. I must say that it is an excellent shooter, mechanical function is flawless. Also very accurate - settled into 2” groups at 100 yards - with open sights and a 6 o’clock hold, I think that is simply excellent! I am sad to return it as it is such a great shooter but the cosmetic flaws will haunt me until I address them - it has got to go back.

Wow, I just received my model 94 sporter in 32 Win Spl. Its flawless as are my other three Miroku Winchesters. Sorry you are having so much trouble.

Sorry to hear Miroku is slipping.

yeah sad to hear, up until now they had a reputation of excellence but in this day and age of lock downs, limited personnel and manufacture back log not surprising. I sell a certain brand product on ebay, got recent bad feedback for supposedly selling " cheap looking knock off non OEM" when it fact it was genuine OEM but I have no control over my company quality control.
