Most terrifying gun in the world seized.

Artherd, civvies can get their hands on a Glock 18. You just have to have an FFL with a class III certification. Then you can get yourself a post-86 dealer sample.

If the Glock 18 hits with all the intensity of a high-pressure water hose, then why don't they use it to quell rioters?

Someone explain the usefulness of a machine pistol with 1 second of available fire. I'd hate to see a case of G18 induced Glock leg, too.

I dont think that Glock sells even to dealers. Im pretty sure that the thing is only available through their LE/MIL distribution system. But, yes the article is innacurat because there are PLENTY of machine guns owned by non military/LE in this country.

besides the glock 18 isnt anything special anyways. if i could have any machine gun in the world THAT one wouldbe pretty darn far down the list.

It is a Glock 18, banned from sale in the US and described as a "monster of a weapon" that fires bullets with the intensity of a high- pressure water hose.

Lord help them if someone smuggles in a Super Soaker...:uhoh:

"Why even a criminal would want to own such a gun is beyond me. It would probably bethe ultimate in gun status-symbols."

BTW, has anyone seen agricola?...:scrutiny:

Do you suppose it would take two african swollows to do that, or would two european swolows be able to. I suppose if they ran it under their dorsal guide feather maybe....

It depends on their airspeed velocity....

Are you suggesting Glocks are migratory?

Let's see . . . banned for sale in the US, yet it's believed to have been imported from the US . . .

Not used by any agencies in the UK, but used by the SAS . . .

And they don't know why even a criminal would want one.

They also don't know how it entered the country. (I'd guess boat, airplane, or Chunnel train.)

The author and/or editor of this little tidbit certainly aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer, now, are they?

The best thing about this was the graphic used in the print version of the story (these aren't mine, but I did find it pretty funny; removed the image tags):

jacert came out of the closet to say:
The picture they used in the paper is a counter-strike weapon replacement. They just used the first picture they found in google:

gunshop.clandeadgoat.net/handguns/glock18_wannabe/glock.gif
You can even see the misaligned textures on the front of the grip/trigger guard. [/b][/QUOTE]

gogo responsible journalism when it comes to firearms.

It is a Glock 17 (I'm assuming the caliber by the controllability) modified with an aftermarket selector switch. The switch replaces the back panel on the slide.

How did they manage to seize this fearsome creature without being destroyed...royal hand grenade?

I am setting up a support group for all those who have been traumatized by the discussion of this fearsome weapon. We will have group counseling with hugs and music therapy.

Migratory Glocks....

I have definitive proof ... I have the same glock, somtimes different models 17, 19, 26 etc etc, at ranges and gunshows across the United States. I even saw the same G17 at an airport in Switzerland.

They all look exactly the same, same markings, exact same dimensions, look, sounds and color. There is no scientific way that the number of specimens I have spotted are individual specimens ... there would and should be some variation or alteration between specimens! They cant all be alike ..... can they?

I personally prefer the European Glocks to the American Glocks ... they have little more panache. The European Glocks are faster also ...

Variation and alteration between specimens... You mean like *gasp* evolution! For God sakes this is a family board. :neener:

Besides that "picture" of a glock is a model used in the video game Counter Strike. Notice how it has no Safe Action trigger safety.

I too would like to see the 1100 round mag.

I would also like to see what kind of holsters the SAS uses when they deploy with the 1100 round mag in the gun.

I bet it pulls their knickers down on one side to beat the band.

While that article was full of outright stupidity, the cyclic rate was not one of them. All FA guns have a certain cyclic rate. That does not mean they are going to actually fire that many rounds, any more than driving 60 mph means you are going to drive 60 miles.

I'm fairly confident most people here know the difference between cyclic ROF and sustained ROF. However, the article is still disingenous in implying a practical, usable ROF of 1100 rounds per minute, since the Glock's magazine is not large enough to accomodate such.

I am fairly confident that 99% of brits dont know that, and are easily intimidated by the propoganda they so readily soak up. Are we sure that Goerbel is dead?

I want a belt fed G18.:D

exactly. The way the sentence was written, it seemed to imply (even if only to select idiots) that the gun is capable of firing 1100 rounds in a minute. We all know that a gun that fires 1100 rounds per minute isn't going to fire 1100 rounds in a minute. But, the average sheep is likely to use similar logic to that in the car analogy. ie: well a car traveling at 60 mph could go 60 miles if you wanted to, so this "most terrifying gun EVER" must be able to fire 1100 rounds in a minute if you want to.

I suppose someone might think that. I would also suppose that they would be such an incredible idiot that there is no way to phrase the statement so that it wouldn't be taken out of context.
