I’ve been toying with the idea of trying a red dot sight for turkey hunting (eyes getting old…), and was wondering if there is an easy wash to mount one to my Benelli Supernova. I love the gun, but all it has is a fiber optic front sight and a stainless steel beed about half way down the rib. The top of the receiver has no rail or screw holes, just a shallow groove about the same width as the rib. Is there an easy and reliable way to mount a red dot sight to this gun? I’d rather not have to buy a new gun but it’s not out of the question. Thanks for the help.

I thought those were drilled and tapped. I guess I was wrong. If not I'm not aware of any way to do it on that gun. They used to make some saddle mounts for 870's.

I'm pretty sure Mossberg's are set up for optics. And the new Remington 870's are. I recently bought a 20 ga 870 specifically for turkey hunting. I have no plans for optics at this time, but it might be an option later.

I bought a TruGlo rib mount for their own red dot but also a Burris Fastfire. I bought the Fastfire as well.

Here is the mount.

I haven’t tested it yet on my 20 ga BPS. The Benelli Nova is a pretty light gun so I really don’t know how it would hold up under 12 ga recoil. It is advertised to handle it though.

Burris , which is owned by Beretta as is Benelli , has their speed bead . Supposedly the only difference between the speed bead and the fast fire is the speed bead has a 8 inch moa dot and the fast fire has a 4 inch moa dot .Correct me if I'm wrong but a 8 inch moa dot would cover 2 inches at 25 yards , turkey shooting distance edit : i was looking at the nova , my son has one , and the butt stock is solid , molded nylon so the speed mount won't mount as usual , wonder if Benelli has a solution
