Col.Plink show us what your rifle can do at 100 yards with that scout scope on it. If you can.

I sure will; just found out it's shipping today :)

I'm so excited; I've been waiting to get this going for a LONG time!

So, any tips or videos on hoe to remove that rear sight ladder??

I just got my black sniper bag in today. They sent it by ups instead of parcel post mail. I have no idea why because it was suppoused to be shipped by u.s. parcel post mail. The company I ordered this stuff from is still shipping my scope package even though I told them to cancel it. Oh well. Looks like my gun was meant to have a scope on it. It was on back order for 3 to 4 days. I told the guy in a email to cancel it. That is the only way to contact them at combathunting.com I doubt I will shop with them anymore since they didn't do as I asked. Here is a link to a picture for the sniper bag I got today. Happy Shooting Kids! : )

I just got my scope package in today. It is nicer than what I thought it would be. Now I just need to get it installed then buy a good front shooting bag and set my scope and I'll be all done with my riifle. : )

Since I couldn't get my scope set at the shooting range yesturday I took it to cabelas today and they bore sighted it for free.

I was buying VZ24 8mms when they were on sale at BIG5 for $70 in 2003.

I got a lot of VZ24 7mms when Century had them on sale in 2008.

I don't think I have ever shot a VZ24 with the original barrel.
I typically re barrel them.

Thanks for the info Clark. This was a insruction rifle for the romanian military. Do you think the barrel is wore out just from being a instruction gun? What did you do to the barrel? Get is gun smithed or got a whole nother barrel? I doubt I can find a barrel that is in good shape.

I think the next time I get to take it out I will just take it to the shooting range and see what it can do standing and on a bench at 25 50 and 100 yards. But I am going to be using a big body target because I doubt this gun is any good with smaller targets.

I hope the leaper utg scope that was over 166 with shipping for the scope, scope rings and mount will keep it's zero. That scope was made for this gun. Otherwise I wasted my money on the scope and will end up selling it on a online gun auction website. I don't want another scope on it if this one doesn't keep it's zero. Because I would have to buy a pistol scope that is like 300 bucks or more. I'd rather just get some mojo sights and have a gun smith put them on my gun. But that won't be cheap. We shall see what happens with this scope and rifle. I'll let you all know what it does the next time I take it out. Because I might need your input to get this thing shooting straight. Lol.

I decided that I'm just going to shoot it at 100 yards on a table with the big 25 inc body target and see what it will do. I got 1 hit on it before at 100 yards on a bench abd the rear sight was to low. Set at 5. and I wasn't used to the front sight so I got a low shot to the right. A flesh wound on the target. It was by the right leg just above it. but only half of the bullet it the body target the other half hit the white paper. Now I have a scope so if it holds zero is should be way better accuracy. I'll try to get a picture of the target to after I make shots at it and I'l post the link for it on here.

I just tried getting my scope set for 100 yards. But it turns out my scope mount is loose and can't be tighted up. I took it to a gun smith I know. He looked at it. I will have to get mofo sights on it sometime. I might even get the stock cleaned up and maybe varnished and the gun degreased and reblued. I'll let you people know what I do with it.

I just the scope off my gun today, cleaned it and degreased the stock and put pledge on it. A gun smith told me to use steel wool and smiple green but I used some scotchbrite red pads and sme greased lighting in a spray bottle and srubbed it good. I then used 2 coats of pledge wood oil. I want the gun hot blued and those mojo sights put on it. I might even change the stock. This stock has cracks in it but they aren't all the way through.

I want to get a different stock for it but I will cold blue it myself if I can get the original stock off of it. Then I will get the mojo sights put on it. Did you guys know they make a detachable magazine for this rifle?

The webmaster at thehighroad.org got me my old id back today. Also I decided not to restore my gun because it's to much labor and time involved. I did order some mojo sights today though. It was just over 89 dollars with the cheapest shipping. I still need to put my scope up forsale on a different website since I can't use it on my mauser.

Hickok45 from youtube.com got another mauser. He just posted a video of it on May the 5th. I think his newer one is made by steyr. It has a bent bolt, I think all the matching numbers and even a rear sight that can go down to the number 1 setting. Heck my old rear sight only went down to the number 3 setting. His newer gun looks in really good shape to. His newer one has a aftermarket trigger in it though. Check out the Hickok45 video of it on youtube.com when you get a chance to. He makes my favorite gun videos on youtube.

I just put my scope forsale on gunbroker. My id is funwithguns07 on there. If anyone wants to buy my scope the starting bid is only 1 cent but the shipping is 15 dollars. I was on gunbroker twice but with different ids because I always get rid of my account after I get my stuff sold because I never use it. But now I am keeping my id for sure on there.

The scope wasn't selling on gun broker so I took it off. I did everything I could to get bids on it but no one was bidding. A guy that I chat with online told me I could take the front site off myself. So I got the front sight off of my rifle a couple of nights ago. I am still waiting for the mojo peep sights to get delivered here yet. The company I ordered it from said it will be here by the 23rd. I hope I can put them on it myself. I've been wanting this one savage rifle bad. Maybe some day I will be able to buy it. It's a 17hmr. I've talked avout them on other threads. It would be a nice rifle to have for a indoor shooting range since the weather is usually bad for out door shooting here and the range is 39 miles one way. A good indoor range by me is like 20 miles or so away. There is a few closer ranges but 2 are in bad neighborhoods, one indoor range sucks, the guy that runs it and one of his friends are total jerks.

I just got the mojo peep sights in today that I ordered from midwayusa.com. I tried installing them myself but I'm not that good so I took it to my local gunsmith. He said I got a good deal on them. He liked them and told me when I get them set right to let him know what those sights do. He only charged me 20 dollars to install them. I am on ssi supplemental income that isn't much that's why he didn't charge me much. He is Listed in American Handgunner's Magazine Top 100 Gunsmiths his website link is www.gutridgeinc.com so if you have any work that needs to be done give him a call. He also has done work to a Mosin Nagant 91/30 I used to own.

I will post a link to a picture of a target I will be shooting at at 100 yards when I get my new sights set right. I will just be using military surplus ammo in it though. I am planning on getting my gun restored for sure because I want it like new. But that will be the last thing I will have done to it.
