My first 1911?

I'd not hide a purchase of that amount from the wife. Though not huge it ain't pocket money for most. With 3 little ones I find myself wanting to devote more funds to them than any firearm. I can honestly say the wife turned down my request yesterday for a new Colt I had saved for with my "allowance".

Good points. We maintain separate accounts and then we divide the bills with me paying a larger portion of the bills, cause I make more. She really doesn't question what I do with my spare change and I don't bother her...

But, she probably wouldn't be too excited to see me playing around with a new gun and a little one only a few months away. I figure if I can do this BEFORE the baby comes, it should be an easier sell :)

Maybe True. If you have a little one on the way you might want to show your good faith to your wife by putting aside an equal amount of $$ to help pay for Baby bills (hospital, diapers, etc). It certainly can't hurt. It also helps if the Credit card is at zero (or close to it). Take it from me! We just had our second, a baby girl.

If you havent already bought your new 1911 I want to put in a good word for the Ruger SR1911. I have a buddy that bought one and it is a very nice gun at a bargain price. He paid 639.99$ for it at a major retailer in Maine. It has been every bit as accurate as more expensive guns (think 1.5 - 2.5in groups at 25yds) has had no malfunctions so far. I personally have put about 150 rounds thru it and I can report that the trigger is quite good.

- Its ALL American made (100%, not American assembled of some foreign parts)
- Its accurate and reliable.
- Subjectively it looks good.

What's not to like?

BTW, Here's a preemptive Congratulations on your new baby.

Cheers,

-S
