f someone broke into my house and then went to the fast food joint down the street I would be livid if the police refused to look at the CCTV footage. without that footage the perps will most likely never be caught unless they confess.
It is ridiculous that your local police seemingly do not even care at all that your house was broken into.

Several years ago my wife left the garage door open one night and some scumbags came in thru the garage to the patio and stole our TV. A police officer came out the next morning after I called and were totally uninterested in the big juicy finger print left on the glass of the case. Handed me a slip of paper with a number on it "to prove you filed a police report for the insurance company". I doubt this officer could find water if she fell out of a boat.

I've since expanded the motion detectors of the alarm system to the garage and patio.

+1 to being very alert for a driveway ambush or home invasion. These have been a growth industry the Sugarland area and other parts of town.

The line between paranoia and prudence can be pretty hard to find at time, but as the song says: "just because you're paranoid, don't mean they aren't after you!"
