Warmest greetings everyone. Brand new to the forum, and also reloading. I've never reloaded a single round, but after much research it looks like something I would enjoy so I placed my order and am now patiently awaiting the toyz. Lots to read and learn, which is very appealing to me, and excited about being as active here as time allows.

Plan on loading for small handgun and small rifle (9mm and .223 to start). The goal is to learn, enjoy and to increase stock supplies. Looking forward to hearing from the nice folks out there.

Just wanted to say hello and thanks for all of the great information being posted here (I've been a troll for a while).

Let the madness begin...

I've never reloaded a single round,

Interesting feature of Dillon loaders. If you set it up according to instructions and then put in ONE empty case and pull the handle, it will perform one operation at a time on that case without spilling powder or primers. You can learn what is going on as readily as with the commonly recommended single stage. Only after everything is adjusted and you understand the process, then go to progressive loading.

Read the instructions, watch videos, read your general manual for operations, not just load data, THEN ask here for expansion of that material. It is very difficult to learn to reload one question at a time on the internet without having studied the basics.

Welcome to to the wonderful world of reloading. A word of caution, it is addictive !!!!! One press will not be enough !!!!!

Welcome to the forum

I recently, couple months ago, helped a friend set up his 750 on my bench. It was very easy as I already had an Inline Fabrications Ultramount with Quick Change top plate there from a previous 650. I didn't realize how many after market accessories were available to help the Dillon run smoothly.

Interestingly we've already been through 3 sets of dies to find the ones that work best for him to reload 9mm...we've loaded about 6k rounds so far. We ended up with:
1. Sizing - Lee Undersized
2. Expanding - DAA insert
3. Bullet feeder - Mr Bullet Feeder
4. Seating - Redding Competition Seating
5. Crimp - Lee Factory Crimp

I'm in the same boat you are. New to reloading, except I have done some shotgun shell reloading. My Dillon XL750 shipped a couple of days ago and is supposed to be here Thursday. I was surprised because I was notified a few days before there was a 6 week waiting period. I will be reloading 9mm, .223, .357/38 and .380 for now. It has been recommended that I start on .357 because it has a straight case. I don't have any personal knowledge of this, just what I was told. I want to determine which .357 load may be the easiest to find components for.

Welcome to the forum,

Just wanted to say hello and thanks for all of the great information being posted here (I've been a troll for a while).
Just so you know, a troll is someone who post something derogatory or ambiguous to get an argument started.

You mean you've been lurking here for a while. We know what you meant to say even if you didn't.

We have some really good Dillon guys here that can help you out with any or all your questions about the press you bought.

Good luck and don't hesitate to ask them questions.

Welcome aboard, Man!

“The HighRoad, a clean, lighted establishment!”:)

Like NatureBoy says, start sourcing some components now, it may take awhile to get them.

Open a Hornady manual and start reading the first pages and stop when you get to the load data. Close the book. Repeat the next day.
The load data is not the most important information in the book. The loading theory and practices are. You can get load numbers anywhere, but they can’t be used properly without an understanding of how it all works together.

Good to see you here!

Thanks so much everyone. Glad to be a part of the forum.
I'm sure I will have many questions (you've been forewarned), but will try to avoid becoming a PITA. Looking forward to the journey.

Welcome to the forum! It's always nice to have a New shooter and reloader join the group regardless of what you are shooting or what reloading equipment is being used. We are all here for the same purpose. Take you time, read, ask questions but most of all stay safe!

Hopefully you'll be able to find primers and powder to get you going...

Both those items are like trying to find a unicorn right now unfortunately.

Welcome to thr!

Any questions you have, please feel free to post.

The only stupid questions are ones not asked that lead to trouble, maybe even hurt or kill someone
