Well I now have my Glock! I put the cart before the horse some 3 yrs back, bought the 6" KKM bbl. back then and not the Glock:)

For my own gift I put down the required 20% and wife picked up the rest of the tab and new now it was wrapped and under the tree. Knowing that it was finally or almost in hand I PROCEEDED to buy what I believed from studies the mods or parts necessary in getting the most out of my Glock.

One item was "How to Make Glocks Rock!" DVD and a Reference Guide for Glocks put out by PTOOMA Production. Ordered from GlockMeister, GhostInc. and Midway. Parts were the captured rod w/22# recoil spring GM,Backstrap Channel Insert, GhostInc. Rocket 3.5# Connector kit, Glock extended slide release tab. The shell holder from Wilson, 100rnds of Starline brass and 200 rnds of XTP's.

Had a time getting the Trigger Control Tab down to what was required for full operation of trigger function and disassembly of slide thereafter. Now that is done I went ahead and loaded up 5 rounds with Beartooth 200grn WFNGC and 9.3 grains of Hi-Skor 800X lit by Fed 155's today and fired the Glock. I limped wrist the first shot as the second round did not feed properly:eek:, thereafter the rest fed and shot superbly. Not like my wheelguns for sure.

Went back home and took the KKM barrel off to make some observations and noted that there is fouling-perhaps the lube off the bullet. Was able to retrieve from the snow bank 2 out of the 5 rounds of brass and noted slight impacts compared to the 2 alum. cases from the factory.

My further studies indicated that maybe the firing pin was hanging up, took it apart and clean it was. I am now wondering if the control tab on the Rocket Connector needs another .01mm honing? Or maybe the primers need to be set deeper, right at the time of seating primer I measured them to be .001" deep. Figured with the "soft" primers of the Federals should be adequate. Should I be concerned down the road with the light primer hits?

This trigger is smooth and accuracies thus far off-hand is superb! As soon as my XTP's get in I will load for them and setup my chrono. I suspect to shoot them in the stock bbl. until LW comes out with the LS for the Glock 20 then I will shoot with the 6"KKM.

Any suggestions?

Can you switch it all back to stock and try? Maybe change one part at a time?
I have a Glock 20C that is completely factory that has NEVER had a problem at all. I typically shoot 180gr FMJ or HP's. I just started reloading for it using 180gr Rainier plated HPs and 165gr Speer Gold dots.

I say keep it stock. Mine has an aftermarket barrel, guide rod, and sights. Everything else is stock.

It eats any ammo I throw at it without fail.

thanks for the advice. I did reinstall the original connector and then done some more studying and took the tab connector down more and it seems better but won't know until tomorrows load testing. It is just that I spent good money on something advertised as such and figure it is too soon to go back to stock. Furthermore I still desire to shoot a few thousand rounds out of this before too long-I hope.

I just ordered the Heine CGR SlantPro/Dawson sight combo for this moments back. Should be a nice setup. My first Glock.

by the way I did not notice any over-travel on the original connector, might be just me. the pull seemed fine too.

I'd really like to know how that ghost rocket connecter works out , I have one sitting in my desk right now for my G20, been holding off installing it until i talk to someone who has...let us know, grinding on that TCT sounds like a pain, did you buy the install kit like thier website suggests?

davepool, yes I bought the Rocket Kit-did not need the extra springs nor did I change them out. I honed the trigger control tab down with a course stone and back and forth and honed more. Used my digital caliper - but far as I can tell it don't help with the honing:) Had my dremel but chose not to use it. I eventually believe now I have it to where it needs to be. I like the trigger pull-no question. The instructions on there website stated if I have light primer strikes to work on the tab more. So I did. When the morrow comes about I have 5 200XTP's with 9.3 grns of 800X readied. I will note the impact on primer.

I like the idea of crap not building up in or around my connector-the appearance of the Rocket Connector seems to be ideal. This is just an experiment thus far and I hope it proves to be a good one. Glockworxs and LW have there particular models as well.

Am awaiting the LS from LW in January for my 6"bbl.-be something for sure.

This is my first Glock, bought it because of the caliber, i like the ballistics of the 10mm and Double Tap makes full power loads for it. The hornady ammo i get at Cabelas is pretty tame compared to mikes loads. I've got a couple of Springfields XDs and i like thier triggers better than the Glock, but they don't offer a 10mm. I have been looking at the KKM 6" barrel also so i can use the lead bullets that Double Tap makes, everything i've read on this forum says lead bullets in a stock Glock is a no no, so approx. how much did you have to grind off the TCT, is there a standard ,or is each pistol different?

American Eagle

Every once in awhile I seem to find American Eagle high antimony lead ammo....that's why I purchased an EFK Firedragon barrel.....I did replace the polymer guide rod but that's all. (periodically, <www.natchezss.com> carries it)

With factory ammo and std glock equipment: likes everything: Extreme Shock, Glasers, Horn, DT's, Rem, Prvi, etc.

My G20 is my carry gun when i can wear a jacket or sweater.

Good luck, best wishes on your new G20.

still have good trigger pull and am now pleased with the trigger control tab. honed the tab down to a .190" length and impact on primer is plenty good. The 5 rounds of XTP 200 grainers went spot on at 25yds! I have owned and shot my handguns for some 35yrs. but not with the kind of accuracies and grip frame of a full-size Glock! My concern with my medium sized mitts and the infamously known grip frame of the Glock was a serious concern. Not anymore.

Can't wait for my Heine/Dawson sights. I am certain more Glocks are going to be in my possession down the road. Maybe the 29. If not soon then lots of shooting! Amazing! just amazing.

The G20 will cycle better with a lighter recoil spring. 22 lb is heavier than the OEM recoil spring. This could be where your weak wrist jam came from, and there will be issues with a lighter load for sure. As for the light strikes, if you are running the OEM striker spring, you will be able to light off any primer on the market to include military ammo primers (ya, I know there isn't any military 10mm out there). your primers should be seated as deep as possible in any handgun case for a semi-auto. Any high primer in a glock is bad ju-ju. This is the only problem I have ever had with lighting off a round in a glock. Totally seat the primer and go on to the next round...

You might see some build-up with lead in the KKM barrel for a while with lead rounds since it's a new barrel. I would recommend cleaning any fouling out of it and breaking the barrel in with 200-500 rounds of jacketed bullets first. It will help smooth out any of the micro machining marks and lessen the leading in the future.

I'm not really a fan of the rocket connector. Get a Lone Wolf 3.5 connector. The amount of trigger travel after the trigger break is not enough to worry about in a Glock to mess around with the tab on the rocket connector.

SA Friday, thanks for the input you shared. The heavier than "norm" recoil spring is normal for heavier than normal-heavier bullets and alot of velocity require this. Not likely I will ever shoot anything less than a 200 grain or over.
My primers are seated .001" below flush. About the KKM and lead I overlooked that even a "match" bbl. can initially foul. Had a PacNor super match on a pre-64 and viritually no fouling. Suppose my thought stemmed from that - easily.
About the Rocket Connector, what sold me was that fact that there is slots created in process or design of product. Figured with me living in the Brooks Range this would be appropiate, heading to the wood yard(blk.bears/wolves), taking a cruise with my wife in my boat down river(some wild bunch down there) the Glock would be the tool. Heading up river from where I live I would opt for either my .44mag or .45LC with the big heavy hardcast.
The amount of overtravel is my experiment and will take note of any differences between the stock and the Rocket.

"I love this stuff"!

The bullet weight is irrelivant to the recoil spring weight, but if you are always going to be shooting extremely hot loads, the spring should not be an issue to reliable ejection.

After shooting tens of thousands of rounds in Glocks and doing gross modifications to them for competition shooting, I can safely say that shooting the hottest load in a G20 you can safely shoot with the OEM factory recoil spring weight will not shorten the life of your Glock, and using a heavier spring will not lengthen it's life either. The heavier recoil spring will change the feel of shooting those rounds though, and will have a higher chance of causing an ejection jam. I would try both the OEM spring weight and the 22lb spring and see which feels better when shooting.

There are three things I do to every one of my glocks, competiton or carry, doesn't matter: change the sights, change the guide-rod to a metal one, and polish up the trigger bar and disconnector. For my carry glocks, I stop here because this is going to give the ultimate in reliability. Any other modifications are strictly for competition. You just can't beat the OEM trigger parts polished up for reliability in a Glock.

SA Friday, I am grateful you are tolerant to a "young" Glock shooter! Sights and metal guide rod are a must, have that or sights in hand soon. The 2 differences in the stock vs.mod spring is a will do test-thanks. If I can get my hands on some Flitz I will polish the trigger bar and "the raised angled edge of the connector" or you talking about the cruciform? The word "disconnector" throws me abit.

The way you right is what I do apppreciate-from a lengthy and tried experience. thanks again. Still like the Rocket design though:)---what is your opinion of the Rocket by the way? I note you like the stock connector nonetheless.

I love my G20. Keep yours stock. For plinking, I buy Georgia Arms Canned Heat. For my carry rounds, I ordered some Gold Dots from Double Tap ammo.
