I looks real nice, but remember when Madam President takes over in January such finishes will become verboten! Real firearms can not look like toy guns.

Side plate screws are cheap-- Brownells or Midway. Or just stay with what you have if they work!

Awesome, the paint reminds me of the icing on cherry pop tarts, my favorite!!

Yeah it most certainly does though the unfrosted strawberry ones are still my favorite.

The pink finish makes me ill just looking at it.

But I commend you for having the skill and parts to make it work again.

It coulda been perfect, and a heirloom with a nice blue or electroless nickel finish though.

Since the frame was already drilled before I got it, I don't think I've destroyed a classic. It already had no collector value. It's not even an early model 10.

For those concerned that someone is going to mistake it for a toy:

I don't know how y'all store your firearms, but I don't allow children into my safe. Make no mistake. THIS IS NOT A TOY. It is my intent to shoot plate matches and steel challenge with it.

Besides mounting the sight, generously provided by SightMark at a ridiculously low price, We put the cylinder/extractor assembly in a fixture and adjusted the the ejector rod.
Next up is sizing the cylinders and chamfering them for faster reloads.

Considering sending it to the Custom Shop to have the cylinder cut for moon clips.

I would appreciate your review of the sight mark sight. My 65 year old eyes could also use some help

My comment was not ment to be amusing. It could be mistaken for a toy.

You misunderstood my comment. I meant to "second" your statement , thereby repeating and agreeing with it. My comment of "Not amused" referred to the Hello Kitty motif. I can see no point in decorating a gun to look like a cute little toy.

This is a real gun that shoots real bullets:

I can't speak for others but I like the motif and as to a real gun looking like a toy? I thought even toy guns should be treated as if they were real? I have also seen toy guns made to look very real. Responsible gun owners secure their guns in a responsible fashion away from the reach of small hands. So why should it matter if a real gun looks like a toy?

I like the bold departure from"the norm",and in my opinion toy guns have gotten to be very realistic these days,as long as it is kept secure as any firearm should be then I see no harm in having a little fun with the asthetics of it.

I understand those who are not entertained by this it but I think it's a nice handful of mud slung into the eyes of detractors who only see "evil black rifles" in the hands of domestic terrorists.

I get it, part of the cool is the most excellent S&W Mod 10. On that we agree. Be tolerant of me though because it must be said that seeing a gem:
1. painted
2. pink
3. Hello Kitty
4. What looks like an original grip likewise

Sorry guy. With you on love classic S&W, wanna heave eventually here.

Hope you understand.:(

Sure , responsible gun owners secure their firearms in a responsible fashion away from the reach of small hands...

So - you are telling me that you are incapable of making a mistake , and that you will never , ever be subject to circumstances beyond your control?

Guns are NOT toys. Guns should not be made to LOOK like toys.

Making a gun look like a toy , and celebrating that creation , can accomplish only one thing , as far as my reasoning goes - it gives a tool to the anti-gun movement. It screams of irresponsibility.

I am not suggesting that the O.P. is irresponsible - I am saying that the image he created will evoke that reaction from some viewers. And that image is now public.

OK, we just see it two different ways. I never said a gun was a toy. However, if a gun is properly secured regardless of its appearance, it will never hurt anyone is what I said. I like the motif while you do not, it is just that simple.
