Nashville Glock store- my experience

I worked most of my life in retail . There is a quote i had hanging in the back room “ if you dont take care of your customers, someone else will”.
We had an unofficial quote about new employees that later turned out to be questionable, “Who hired that guy?”

A great deal of blame also goes towards supervision and management of places like that Glock store, who either don’t know, or don’t care, if staff is inattentive. 😞

My Father told me that the way to be a successful salesman is for you to treat each and every customer exactly the same way you would want to be treated, if you were the customeer.

I tell my wife that when she is mad at my slow-paying customers. I know most of my customers personally, if they are slow-paying, there usually a reason, even if that reason is they forgot this month. I tell her I treat my customers the way I wish to be treated... I've forgotten things before, too.

Sounds like my kind of place. I love places with a lot of stuff to look at and things to do where people will let me explore at my own pace. I go to Nashville occasionally, but haven’t had the opportunity to check it out yet. I enjoy Lenny Magill’s content online too.
 
Memphis would have stolen the wheels off your ride while you were inside. Just two more dem ruined cities. Avoid at all cost.
Last time I was in Memphis I had a guy jump in my car at the hotel in an absolute panic and scream " Go! GO, GO, GO! The cops are coming! The cops are coming!"

Most interesting hitch hiker I've ever had. But not so interesting that I would go to Memphis and get another one.

As far as stores go, I'll ask for help if I need help. Otherwise, I'd rather not talk to people.

I'm kind of the opposite from most people. I'm not a fan of being approached by salespeople. I like to look around and if I need assistance I'll make it known.
 
Hate you had a bad experience. Me personally when I go to a big named gun shop I prefer it be like that. Leave me alone and let me shop I know what im there for usually to just look around. If I need something specific or any help I’ll ask. Everyone is different but I prefer to shop at my local small family owned gun stores anyway.
That's how it is in Cabela's, Home Depot and Lowe's. The help scatters like a covey of quail.
Don't go to Scheels. Every employee wants to know if you want help.
 
I like it when I walk in and get greeted right away followed by a "let me know if we can help in anyway" and then I go about window shopping without too many interruptions.
 
I've noted two major types of stores:

1. The friendly, helpful, knowledgeable place
2. The arrogant, old toot place - there is a customer that like to be bullied as it gives them entry to the macho gun world. Lots of grunts and stopping power and war stories. Kind of like designers or hair dressers who treat women like dirt for the privilege of being their clients. Same with some gun instructors. Sexist.

I've seen both. Went to a small town store the other day, had a nice chat. But watched some customer come in and have fit as he didn't get a takedown tool for a gun that doesn't need one. Called the clerk a liar - the old toot customer was looking at another gun's manual - duh! Goes both ways.

The Shooting Industry magazine is full of tips for customer service to break the #2 type of service fail.
 
I'm almost positive I have not bought a gun in 10 years. I'd have to look at the receipt to be exactly sure but it's been pretty close to 10 years.

I never was much of a window shopper.

I'm the guy who does all his research online and when I go to the gun shop I already know what I'm going to buy.

So, I walk in and tell them I want to look at a Glock 19 and I usually buy it on the spot.

Even after I quit buying guns I would stop in at my favorite local gun shop and say hi to the counter guys but over the course of a year or two all their employees turned over and I don't know any of the new guys. I think it was four or five years ago I decided that there was no point in my going there anymore.

That's me. Guns , cars ,trucks. But a sales person with product knowledge is OK. My wife says I'm unsocial. Yep.

He was very insistent about staying in the car. I didn't have time to fight him or deal with the cops. I figured he was probably just being trespassed from the hotel, anyway.

When I got about a half mile away three cops came flying past me 100+ going back toward the hotel. I have no idea what this guy did to warrant such a response. I've always been curious.

I finally got rid of him and made my flight out of there.
 
I like chatting at the Gun Shop about old Smith & Colt. But what would a Glock conversation be like. ???

Gen 3 we added finger groves, Gen 4 we added back straps, Gen 5 we ran out of ideas.?? 😂

Oh, and
- added unnecessary weight and size to the already perfect G23.4 .40 Compact.

Have Gen 4's, and appreciate the dual recoil spring and better trigger.

The Gen 4's were designed around addressing the issues the 9mm pistol was having w/ the .40 cartridge,

To the point that the 9mm started having problems.
 
If I’m at Wal-Mart or the grocery store, or someplace like that, a big warehouse selling common stuff, leave me alone. I don’t want to be greeted, I’m there to pick up a gallon of milk and some lettuce, or a new gas can, or whatever. I don’t need expert help to decide which brand of yoghurt to buy. I do, however, prefer the store to have a few employees wandering around in the departments, so that if I need to ask where an item is found, or if they have any of an out of stock item in back, I can make those enquiries. I do want to be greeted and a few words exchanged when I check out.

In a “specialized” store, like a gun shop, tobacconist, high end wine shop, (all fine products of the ATF…) or jewelry store, I’d like to be greeted first, *then* more or less left alone to browse if that’s what I want to do. An innocuous greeting never offends anyone (even in a grocery store tbh) but the hovering sales guy who shadows you everywhere is off-putting almost anywhere. There’s a line between “friendly” and “obnoxious” but I don’t think it’s a particularly fine one and it does sound like the Nashville store dropped the ball pretty badly. I often find myself working in high end retail environments and it’s off-putting when customers walk in and the store staff don’t even look up from their youtube video or whatever.
