New (to me) pistol query

I have always wanted a single shot BP pistol and finally I have found one at the right price.
Please can someone tel me what this style of pistol is called?

I have a similar pistol that was my Dad's. It was a kit and I believe marketed as a "Kentucky Pistol". Probably not historically correct.
 
That's what it is. It's probably pretty close to the original style. Most of the kits by CVA etc. are designed to be as close to the original as possible. A lot of the "Kentucky" guns were in .36 or .45 caliber. Hopefully, your pistol is a matching caliber. As it looks the color is very close to what the originals were. Here is one of my kit Kentucky rifles.
I built the extension to make the rifle butt fit my arm length as these rifles were designed for a shorter person. HPIM5806.JPG
