swapping guns, rigs, or ccw locations is just asking Mr Murphy to stab you in the back. When you need that pistol, you want it to "grow" out of your wrist. Changing things around a lot will never let you attain that sort of speed/confidence, so it's a bad idea. Remember KISS.
I'll never understand how anyone can list more than one choice in these threads. The question included the word "MOST", there can only be one you carry most, all the rest don't qualify.
Once my permit arrives I'll be carrying a 40 S&W. Good thing my sister isn't trying to take this poll, the caliber she carries Isn't on the poll, 25 acp. Nether is my second choice of 7.62 x 25 Tokarev.
For me, it's fascinating to watch the numbers on this poll about how many carry what caliber - I'd love to see a similar poll done amongst folks who are not "gun aficionados" or Gun Board Junkies. I'd love to see if the general population of gun owners and folks carrying concealed mimics this poll or if this is only a sampling of what calibers are carried by folks who are really "into" handguns and all things concealed carry.
We all saw what caliber centerfire HG ammo disappeared
and stayed "gone" the longest, despite massive effort to replace it by the makers. A lot of people know the real score, now that the pocket model 9's are available.
Most of the time it's either 9mm or 38 Special, with 45 acp, 357 mag and 22lr getting some fairly regular carry time. Once in a blue moon calibers include 38 super, 10mm, 44 special, 44 mag, 45 Colt, 32acp, 9x18 and 7.62X25.
You can bluff pretty well with a .22, you know. If you can't really lay it on a guy, why bother with any big, heavy expensive centerfire gun as CCW? It's still just a bluff if you can't get a ccw draw and 6 chest hits at 7 yds in 2.5 seconds or so. Sub 2 seconds is a lot better, of course. But it takes either a lot of work to attain that, or "cheat" and start with your hand on your gun, in your pocket. Since 10mm, 357, .44's are not pocket guns, that's not an option.
With the hand in pocket start, the reaction time and first shot hit (from Isocoles or Weaver) can be .75 second, or a shade faster, especially if the range is closer. That leaves 1.25 second for 5 more hits, which is actually pretty slow. .18 second per repeat hit is a lot more like it.
When you find a 15 to 21oz pistol that carries easy and thinly in 10mm that you can control like then buy it quick.
May 80% carry is a kahr tp40 , the 20% is a cm9 or cw9 all with underwood ammo too.
That 40sw underwood with a 155gr gold dot averages 1300fps . That's fast enough for a personal defense ammo.
