Do you carry extra ammo?

For those of you who open/concealed carry on a regular basis, do you carry extra magazines/speedloaders on your person? Opinions are welcome, of course. It would help if you mention the weapon you carry most and why you do/don't carry extra ammo.

Ignore the goof on the 5% option... should be LESS THAN 5% of the time. I'm a putz.

Whenever I pocket carry my P3AT, I always carry a spare mag in the other pocket. I figure, if I'm going to carry the gun, I may as well carry a reload.

a 629 Smith 4" Bbl. in a bellyband, and usually 2 speed loaders in my front pocket.

I carry one mag with the G19. When I'm carrying my snubby I always carry two speed strips. If I'm wearing a jacket I'll add a speedloader as well.

When I get my CCW I'll be carrying my Springer 1911 GI.45 and two extra magazines. When I buy another gun, I will also carry a BUG.

I feel your pain , I escaped from the Peoples Republic of Taxachusetts many years ago . FL vs MA like night & day .

Speed strip always. In the winter a speedloader in my coat pocket as well.

If carrying a j-frame (not so often anymore), usually a speed loader.

If carrying Kahr PM9 (6+1 9mm +p+), about half the time.

If carrying a .45, occasionally.

I carry a Sig P229 40 S&W and carry 3 12 round magazines any time I am armed.

I carry extra magazines for a few reasons

#1 a lot of semi auto failures are magazine problems, though I take great care of my magazines I want fault tolerance.
#2 should the need arise for me to fire my weapon it gives me the ability to have a fully recharged weapon between rounds
#3 it gives me the ability to carry a variety of ammunition, currently I carry 2 magazines of Golden Saber and 1 magazine FMJ.
#4 it makes sitting much less lopsided

When I'm carrying my usual pocket pistol I don't carry a spare, partially because I don't have an extra magazine. When attire and activity permit me to carry a larger gun IWB or in a shoulder harness I usually carry at least one spare mag/speedloader.

Often one spare mag, sometimes 2, with revolvers always 1 speed loader and 1 speed strip.

I always carry at least one mag when I am off-duty, since I carry a 1911. When I am on duty in plain clothes, I still carry a 1911 and usually carry two spare mags.

10 rounds with two platforms.....I like the idea better than 10 rounds in one platform.

It is just too easy not to carry extra ammo. If one carries an autoloader then you should always keep a spare magazine handy in case you were to have a double feed jam.

When I'm carrying the P32 "mouse", I carry three extra mags!!
My old "hood" was populated by gangpunks that traveled in groups of not less than five!!

Lots of ammo was a good thing!!

Unfortunately, I'm now seeing the same thing here in Buckeye AZ as I did in Scottsdale!!

I always carry a spare, and I always have my BUG.

Once I get a double mag pouch for each of my guns, I'll carry 2 spares.

For my Ruger P97, no reloads, just 8 rds of .45ACP. For .38sp snub, I do carry 1 reload of 5 cartridges. I'm pretty careful abut where I go and pay attention to what's going on. I am not going to load myself down with a lot of (to me) unnecessary weight since I am NOT a LEO and I'm not going to war, I'm just going about my daily business.

I always carry extra ammo, usually its loaded in my second gun.

But always have at least two reloads for my main carry gun.

I always carry at least a spare mag, for a number of reasons: the magazine is an autoloaders weakest link, I'd rather have more ammo and not need it

CZ P-01 - 15 in the gun & 1 spare 14rd mag
Keltec P3AT - 7 in the gun & 1 spare 6rd mag
Kahr MK9 - 7 in the gun & 2 spare mags (1 6rd, 1 7rd)

when I had my 1911, I carried 8 or 9 in the gun and 2 spare 7 rd magazines.
