I had some zingers I was going to deliver, but some of the above posts pretty much covered the landscape in question.
Basically, a mall ninja knows all about gear, and thinks he knows all about shooting, but wouldn't know how to survive in the woods or in the city by his wits for more than three days.
They also think in video game terms of kill or be killed, rather than in real world terms of surveillance, making and breaking contact, incremental response, legal justification and excuse, or most importantly, teamwork and division of labor. They know a bunch of (sometimes questionable) military history though they've never served, they distrust authority though they've never been oppressed, and they screech about the Constitution though they've never defended a criminal or gun case in court.
Noisy and useless, pretty much.
