No more striker-fire guns for me!

I got my P07 last year and liked it as soon as I picked it up. Felt very solid and substantial but not too heavy and the grip frame design was a perfect fit for my hand. The double action trigger pull was alright but it was the single action trigger that sold me on the gun. That I could convert the decocker to a cocked and locked safety was like icing on the cake!

Large trigger guard means it can be used with gloves on.

Those are all nice guns and I too prefer all metal guns. But the four polymer guns I own, two of which are striker fired, have undeniable utility.

I like them all if of reasonably good quality and don’t like to limit myself.

I also love me some 9mm, 10mm, and 45auto. They’re all good at different things.

Nothing really against them but I'm an all steel and hammer gun fan. I have owned over a half dozen Poly guns but never really did anything for me. I'm done to three classics in my opinion. Beretta 92FS Compact, Sig Sauer P229 Nitron Compact, and a newly acquired CZ P75D PCR. Maybe I'm just getting old and Glocks, although great guns, should be left to the younger!View attachment 837824

I love the ergonomics of the CZ75. Wish they made one in .40

Looks as though you're really "an all metal and hammer gun fan" -- as the guns you showed us all have aluminum rather than steel frames. Those guns don't have any more steel in them than do the polymer/striker-fired gun you now avoid.

I don't think Beretta or SIG offer steel-framed versions of the guns shown, but you CAN get a steel-framed CZ-75B Compact (note the capital "C" model name). The 75B Compact comes with a safety rather than a decocker. (CZ also makes a couple of very nice hammer-fired polymer framed guns, too: P-07 and P-09.)

As far as poly frame hammer fired pistols my HK P30L is by far my favorite. For CCW I have my P30SK LEM though I CCW my Gen 2 Glock 19 and Walther PPS more often.

Nice pistols MR. Ferber really like the CZ, I have two hammers and one striker. Looked at a Stoeger Couger at the LGS but settled for the 686

Well I have slowly gone from all striker to 4 out of 5 now being hammer fired. Just picked up a Taurus Poly 605.357.

I believe you could also get a Beretta 92 with a steel frame with the 92 FS Fusion, the 92/98 Billennium, the 92 FS Centennial, the 92X Competition, and the 92 Steel Vertec. All fine guns with a number of them carrying quite a hefty price tag!

A 1911 in 9mm is a mortal sin!

IMHO, I beg to differ. Of all my semiautomatics that I have let folks shoot, more people like shooting my STI Trojan 9mm 1911 than just about anything else that I own. I don’t think you can really beat a 1911 trigger, the 9mm recoil is minimal, the thin grips on this one fits more sizes of hands than just about anything else, it’s reliable, and really accurate with the F.O. front & adjustable rear sights. And 9mm is the cheapest centerfire factory pistol ammo. Again, “IMHO”, these guns are great to own & a lot of fun to shoot!

Bannockburn, I have an identical MKII BHP compared to yours, even the grips are the same. Mine was a Cabelas Gun Library orphan, the MKIII guns they were getting in were going for $1,400 - $1,800, but I got mine for $525. It’s still completely stock, I’d like to upgrade trigger & sights eventually. Are you planning any upgrades to yours?

I like hammers. My pocket gun sports a hammer. I prefer revolvers over bottom feeders if you made me choose one or the other.

However, if you made me grab a gun, sprint out the house, and hit the ground running I would pick a SIG p320 every single time. For me, the weight, accuracy, reliability, etc works for me. I'd feel pretty good with a similar Glock or FN. Striker-fired guns have a place in my collection when it comes to utility.

I’m with you on the metal hammer fired guns. I’m a fan of the 3rd Gen Smith and Wessons. But I’ll tell you what, that CZ PCR is flat out sexy. That’s going to be added to my “list”.

I owned 1 Glock, a G22, for about 12 years. Shot less than 500 rounds through it in that time. Never carried it, not even once. Traded it to a friend for a Stihl 390 chainsaw and consider it the best trade I ever made.

As for polymers, I have been considering an XD-e as a new carry piece.
