Obama concerned about his security

Since Obama says all semi-autos should be outlawed, will he hire a security detail armed only with revolvers and single-shot rifles? :rolleyes: :barf:

Or will he follow the same road as other "anti" hypocrites and make sure his guards are outfitted with the latest semi (or FULL) auto, high-capacity weaponry?

Still, Obama IS concerned about his security. And hey, that's fair enough.

BUT like I said, it will be interesting how he applies his anti-gun positions to any security that he hires! ;)

The bottom line is that anyone who wants to restrict the rights of the "commoners" to keep and bear arms - but not live by the same restrictions themselves - is a hypocrite of the worst kind who is not to be trusted.

My first post here was made in jest, but who knows - he may just do that (outfit his guards only with revolvers and single shots). I'd still never support him, but he WOULD earn a measure of respect from me for "practicing what he preaches."
 
Not that I like Obama, I wouldn't vote for him to be dog catcher, but isn't personal security for oneself and family a legitimate thing to think about before one decides to run for national office?

Oh, I'm pretty sure all will be carrying whistles, just like the security teams of all anti-gunners ;)
My guess is that he already has some well-armed guards watching his back.
 
I find it hilarious that the man’s ears are the big topic here, and not the hypocrisy of disarming others while using firearms to protect himself. I think this is the biggest clue to the man’s character.

I try desperately not to fall in with tinfoil hat, the redcoats are coming, crowd, but man this makes it hard not to think that it is all coming to a chaotic end in short order. I guess all I can do is vote against anyone that promises to take away my rights and pray that enough of the rest of the country agrees.

And that goes double for poiticians and Secret Service. Their lives are no more valuable than yours or mine. They merely represent us. If they get shot, well tough, thats part of the job, we can get someone else to take their place.
 
A LOT of anti-gun types are this way. Obama has the secret service, Rosie has her hired guns "My children need armed security", Feinstein has a CCW permit, etc. But you, dear citizen do not need a gun, period.

The hypocrisy of anyone that has a "Do as I say not as I do" attitude towards anything just burns my hide.

Obama WILL get SS protection if he wins the Dem nomination, according to the linked article about his family's concern for his safety.

Only Presidents and their families get SS protection. I don't know what Congressmen get, but they get something because a friend was working for a FBO and John Kerry came in during his 04 run and my friend was asked to leave for the day due to his assault charge he had from a long time ago. So someone was looking out for him.

Presidential candidates also get USSS, provided they meet certain requirements and if they ask for it. Just running for president is not enough.
Congresspersons can get security if they need it and meet certain requirements which is provided by Capitol Police. I worked with Hastert's crew and a few others quite a bit.

It makes perfect sense. He's charismatic, a Democrat, Black and seriously disturbs a lot of people. Think Bobby Kennedy or MLK.

If people are afraid to run for office or say unpopular things on pain of being murdered we might as well give up and ask the Taliban to come in and run things for us.

Yes Jeff it is. However I would be rather irritated if he hired a security detail armed with semi, or even full auto to protect him and his own when he says that folks like you and me should only be allowed single shots, and bolt actions for hunting. Obama is an empty suit and nothing more. It is sad that that many Americans are stupid enough to be played a fool by a slick talking pretty boy with no real merit to his name.

No, you would always have someone willing to step up. But no one is asking them to get rid of their security detail. We are just asking for the same rights...but also making it known that their don't deserve any more than us. They represent us, that doesn't make them above us.

The Founding Fathers all risked execution doing what they did. Why should we expect any less from people trying to fill their shoes.

Because he has stated that all we commoners should have are sporting arms for hunting. Why then would he be justified in hiring armed security (who I am quite sure will not be toting O/U duck guns) to protect him and his own when he feels you and I should have to pick up the phone and dial 911 when trouble rears its head. If Obama wants "security" for him and his family lets see him pratice what he preaches and get a cell phone so he can call dial a prayer should he face adversity. Honestly I am disturbed by the amount of apologist I see here.
 
Like all the liberal hypocrites he'll want all the protection he can get while telling us that we don't need it.

We don't get a Secret Service detail or the use of body armor and bullet-proof vehicles. We don't get armed bodyguards.
