This one is open to any and EVERY 22 caliber rimfire rifle including 22 mag. This match is meant to be challenging and FUN. Hopefully it will get you out to the range and shooting your rifle.

You may enter with multiple rifles.

There is Two Optics Classes:
->25 yards for iron sights and non-magnified optics and red dots
->50 yards for any Scope or Magnified sighting device.

There is Three Rifle Classes:
->Unlimited/Target Rifles
->Sporting Class Bolts and Single Shots
->Repeating Rifles (Includes All Non-Target Class Autoloaders, Pumps, & Lever Rifles)

Unlimited Class can be shot from any position, Sporting and Repeating Class is shot from any unsupported position. When you are satisfied you've done your best post, or PM me a photo of your target to me for scoring with the following information.

-Forum name or name you want posted in the results
-Rifle, make, model, vintage if known
-Sights
-Ammo
-Position
-Distance
-Conditions (outdoors, windy, temperature...)

If unable to email a picture you may E-mail or snail mail the target to me as well. PM me for either address.

The Respective Targets Are Linked Below...
25 Yd. Target: 10 Shots per silhouette, scored as 2pts for center mass and 1pt for touching black.
50 Yd. Target: 30 Shots on center target (none for small targets), scored as indicated on the target.

Now we need a target (or two) and leaderboard (Hint, hint...1858 and FlyinBryan). Feel free to suggest any target. Please provide a link if one is available. The match will conclude at the end of next month (October) unless there is any objection, as we are off to a slow start this month. Target submissions may begin immediately and multiple submissions are allowed. :)

Mods...this also needs to be stickified. :D

How about 20 shots at this target, from any unsupported position.

25 meters (27yards)
50 yards

It will test the ability to consistently hit a man-sized target at 300yds, the test of a true rifleman.

Best out of 3 targets is scored, only hits inside the COM circle count. In case of a tie, the other 2 targets will be used as tiebreakers.

I would rather keep it to a single target for each range (up to two targets total), what about two points for a center mass, and one for elsewhere on the silhouette, and increase the number of shots to 5 or 10 per silhouette (perhaps 5 for the 50yd one, and 10 for the 25yd version).

Another target that I would like to propose (for either, both, or neither of the ranges) is a dart board target, which will be scored like any dart game: numbers indicate the score, inside ring is worth 3X the number indicated, outside ring is worth 2X the number indicated, the bullseye is worth 25pts., and the double bulls (inside red bullseye) is worth 50pts. Shots that are on the edge of the board or two positions are scored as the higher of the two possible areas. Total number of shots to be 10 on a single target, at whatever range chosen (25,50, both, or neither). Keep in mind the double bulls is not the highest score...the triple 20 (triple ring under 20) is. Is it too complex, or does it just keep the contest interesting and different?

I actually meant 20 shots per silhouette. The targets are 300m targets scaled down to 27 yards and 50 yards, so there really should be the same level of difficulty. The scoped rifles will be affected slightly more by wind and atmospherics, thats about it.

I like the dartboard concept maybe you could use this target

Let us know, you are running the match, I just want to start shooting!

Targets...

Alright, well if there are no objections lets just use your 25M silhouette target for 25yds non-scoped, and the red, white, blue target for 50yds using optics. Lets go with 10 rounds for each silhouette (25Yd.) and 30 for the single center red, white, and blue target (50Yd.). For those that are just now tuning in the targets are linked below...
25 Yd Target
50 Yd Target
If the targets and terms are agreeable...Lets get shooting! :)

So how are these to be shot, free hand, sitting , bench with rest??
I would like to see some of us get off the bench and see what we really got.

I'll be shooting prone unsupported. I think it should be open to any position, as long as it is unsupported. Any decent .22 should be able to put 10/10 in the COM at 25yds supported, shooting unsupported will be a competition between riflemen (and women), not a competition between rifles.

I agree, any unsupported position, except for the Unlimited Target Class...that should be, well, unlimited. :)

Great, unsupported it is!
I would supposed Sling is allowed?
Maybe next month we can get some interest in 4 position match also
Thanks

I think using a sling is pretty universally considered to be unsupported, and that's what I'll be using.

Heading out to the range tommorrow AM, if I don't shoot too terribly, I should have the first submission in shortly.

Mav,
Thanks for stepping up to keep this going!
I'm in for the 25 yd., irons, repeater class.
Hopefully, Erma is up to the task.
Not this week end tho...goin' to see Crosby, Stills & Nash.

Just want to double check, what is the actual size of the 50 yd. target? Sometimes my printer up or down sizes an image.

Lets make the target size as large as will fit on a standard 8.5x11 with 1" margins. I believe that all printers should be able to accommodate this with a little resizing, but let me know if anyone has any problems. :)

Absolutely. At the end of this match we can decide what target(s) we want to use, and what changes need to be made. :)

Not my best showing, but I'll throw this out there to kick things off.

Marlin 39A, completely stock, iron sights, Remington valupak .22LR, shot prone unsupported.

Shot left to right, somehow 3 extra rounds snuck in the tube for the first group.

Hopefully I can get back out later in the month when it cools off and do a bit better.

Giving you the benefit of the doubt on the first one(and taking the highest 10), your score appears to be...14+14+15=43...not too bad for irons. You know printing the target on the back of another target is cheating don't ya? :neener:

Just got back from a couple hours at the range. Shot three targets this is the last I shot and the best.
I shot one at 50 just for kicks and did OK

This one is 25yds
Prone position /sling/ unsupported
Iron Sights
Mossberg 44 Bolt Action
Aguila standard ammo ,1135fps, 40 gr. bullet

Orlando, looks to me like you scored 20+18+20 for a total of 58...great shooting. :)

P.S.: Scoreboard should be up on Tuesday...Thanks to the hard work of FlyinBryan...EDIT: Or he can go above and beyond and go ahead and post it a half hour after I run my mouth. :D

I am planning to go to the range this weekend. I would shoot the 50yd target but I'm not sure of the rules with this one. 30 rounds for the larger center target or 5 rounds best score being 30 (5x center of 6)? I'll simplify. How many shot at center bullseyes?
Normally would just did out my old winchester for giggles but the sites got bumped to the point it shoots 3 inches off at 10 yards.

Please see changes here!

Thanks FB...and got your PM too. :D

ORD, since there has been no entries for the 50yd. target...lets change it up a little. 30 rounds will be pretty difficult to see in that one center target (a good rifleman might take out the entire center bulls), so lets make the 50yd. target: 10 rounds for the larger center target and 5 shots in each of the wee targets on the corners for a total of 30 shots fired on the target. If there are any objections or better ideas please let me know. :)
