I just started getting gear together for elk camp. It’s a lot of stuff, the more I look, the more I find. 1st season rifle elk starts on Saturday, I’m leaving for camp tomorrow morning. Good luck to everyone here who’re going out for elk!

More snow more better for elk!
I appreciated a few inches of snow during my decades of deer hunting.
Especially if the snow was fresh powder.
But this is actually my biggest worry for our upcoming trip: that there will be some freakish snow fall, like 3 feet, preventing us from doing anything!

Good luck, be careful, have fun.

Packing:
All the clothing for the weather you expect.
All the clothing for the major winter storm you didn't expect.
Extra chainsaw and fuel
Road flares in case you need to start a fire in wet wood.

Twice as many T-Bones as you could possibly eat.
Twice as much single Malt Scotch as you could drink.

A large bottle of ketchup, salt and pepper in case you shoot one on the wrong side of the ridge!:D
