I kind of lucked into a few Hi-point carbines a few years back. My wife Shot a friends 9mm hp carbine and decided she had to have one. Unfortunately it was around the time of the last great gun panic and I couldn't find one for her that wasn't way over priced. We hit a local pawn shop and found a .40 s&w version with their (Tactical) style stock and she just had to have it. Lucky for us it had been on the shelf for a while so we got it for a steal. She about ran us out of house and home running it so I ended up having to cast and load for .40s&w. I liked shooting her's and loading for it was super cheap. We set it up with a decent little scope and tons of mags for her. The trade off for the .40 was now I get to start collecting all these Trade in pistols in .40 that are coming on the market cheap! :)

Skip ahead a few years and a 45acp version fell into my lap for cheap as well through a coworker and I set it up in similar fashion to hers and notw its become a favorite (albeit heavy) plinker. I had already been casting and loading or 45acp fro my 1911's so it worked out.

I hadn't paid much attention to anything else they had until all the shot show video's showing that they were coming out with a 10mm version. I love me some 10mm! A GB dealer I go through got a few in for $300 shipped so I put one on layaway. I recently paid it off and had already started loading for it. I had a few days before knee surgery so I was able to get it out to the range. Such a fun round to shoot and the rifle ran through 300 rounds I had loaded up before hand. I used the same powdercoated lee 180gr tc bullet I use in her .40 carbine but over cfe pistol in 6.2gr, 7.2 grs and the max loading of 7.6gr. The gun ran great. The Gel pad on the cheek weld kinda sucks but i'll figure something out with that. But man does it ever rock the steel at 80 yards with irons! I'd like to maybe build a 10mm ar just for the heck of it after running this.

I'm really happy with all three of these carbines. I know they aren't most folks cup of tea but I am glad I have them. They are fun to reload for and have no issues running anything you can through at them. I think we have about $700 into all of them as they sit.

I got me some 10MM love too.
I had a Glock 20 with extra Lone Wolf barrel, and worked up some 175-180gr. Powder Coated Lee cast bullet loads, that I cast from wheel weights + loved it.
Sold the G-20 to buy a Glock 40 MOS--Sounds silly, but with Glock strange model #'s, my G-40 is NOT a .40 caliber S&W chamber, but a long slide 10MM that is optic ready.

I would like to add to my safe a good, reasonable priced 10MM carbine..May be a little better quality than a Hi-point , but not one of those $700.00 carbines..
Any ideas here would help me..Thanks in advance..Bill.

I don’t think there is much in between. I’ve been hunting for options on pcc and their seems to be a big gap between the hi point and everything else. Most of the more “respectable” ones are in the 700 dollar range. Yet I see tons of folks who know hi points carbines are ugly but seem to shoot well. If only they were double stack mags.

Congrats! Glad you had so much fun. Some will never figure out that you can do this without a 1200 or 1500 stock, or just spending a whole lot of money when just keeping something simple and down to earth. If I were to get a carbine, the HiPoint would be my choice as well. Have seen many shooting them over the years, and they all seem to be having fun and enjoying these fine simple carbines.

I have a 9MM carbine, and 40S&W carbine , and they are a blast to shoot, but 10MM.................................that must be even more fun.
Post some photos of that beast!

I like the Hi-Point carbines. Having 3 of them, I'm tempted by the 10mm. But I need to wait. Once I add a 10mm carbine, then I would be swayed to get the Ruger SR1911 in 10, then add the components for reloading, then.....
Maybe later this year.

Glad you like it! Sounds like fun. :)

I will for sure just as soon as I can hobble down to the safe. I had knee surgery Friday morning and my wife is watching me like a Hawk! I cant get away with much except for going to the bathroom :)

I've been down that road as you describe...things could be worse right? :)

I was just using the iron sites and I could consistently hit the 6" steel plate at 50 yards without issue standing.. I nailed the 75 yard plate plenty of times as well. And for me thats pretty darn good. My wifes .40 and my 45acp hp's with cheapo optics are dead on at those ranges. The 45 moves around a bit more than the .40 unless I run at the top of the range with the loading in 45.. I definitely want to get a decent little scope for it. I see the Konus 1.5-5x32 Scope is offered on some of these models from the factory and I hear they are ok. I may go that route. I'm not well versed in optics but I do know I'd like something better than a red dot style optic. In edit... I know red dots are fine I just can't seem to use them to their potential.

Very cool, but 300 rounds of 10mm? In one outing? Man, that would set me back; my range trips would be few and far between! :what:

I cast and reload for everything I shoot save for .223 projectiles. I've been picking up the 10mm brass for quite a few years, I think the only thing I am down is my time and Large pistol primers. It helps a lot that I am using the same Powder and boolits for the 10 as I do my wife's .40

Pretty nice there 460shooter! And yes it is. Almost as much fun as my Lever 357 mags.... Im glad I decided to get into the round.

Do you load your own 10mm?

I clocked some 140 gr Underwood ammo. It was leaving my pistol barrel at 1500 fps. 1725fps out of my carbine. If you have sufficiently warm ammo a 10mm carbine makes for a very reasonable dear rifle at short range. I plan to pick up a 1x4 scope and toss it on a QD mount also that I can drop on this rifle if I want to reach out a bit further.

I've picked up several HP Carbines and have been tempted several times because the price is so right. I also read a lot of posts about what great little carbines they are. I may have to experiment.

There are few downsides: ugly, heavy
Pros: inexpensive (not cheap--there's a difference), amazing warranty, accurate for what they are, reliable, fun, tough enough for a lot if use

Yes I Reload for the 10mm cartridge. I cast 2 Bullets for it and .40 in 145gr and 180gr.

I am happy with the 3 we have. All of them are fun to plink with.
