Crowman... Is the TNW caliber convertible? I have a Just Right Carbine. They ARE caliber convertible. The JRC has a removable mag well and that's how it accepts different mags. Looking at your pics, it looks like the mag well on the TNW is integral with the trigger guard. The JRC also uses AR trigger components, and I upgraded the trigger with ease. I cant tell if the TNW uses an AR trigger...? JRC now has a 10mm carbine, and I have been thinking about one, but would only consider the TNW if it has the features the JRC has.

Yes, they are. There are two frame sizes...small one for 9 mm, 357 SIG and 40 S&W.

Large frame, which I have, is for 10 mm Auto, and 45 ACP.

There is also a 22 LR conversion kit as well.

To convert between calibers within the two frame sizes requires only a bolt and barrel replacement...in other words, I can convert my 10 mm to 45 ACP with a bolt and barrel change, in around 5-6 minutes. Can do it in the field.

TNW also sells their carbines in convertible packages. They also offer an expensive bug-out pack with pockets designed for the gun, ammo and magazine storage. They also offer a ballistic plate that will stop heavy 10 mm bullets, that slides into a pocket in the pack’s back compartment. Another feature they offer is to thread the barrel for a can. Thread pitch varies by caliber.

For my purposes, I only wanted the 10 mm model. The carbine comes without sights, one 10-round magazine and one rail. I bought two more rails from TNW’s website. I bought five 15 round 10 mm Glock mags from Gun Mag Warehouse.

The ASR’s are intended to be compact break-down carbines for travelers, hikers and bush pilots. Great woods carbine. In that role, the 10 mm made more sense to me. The basic gun is around six lbs., the more junk ya add, the heavier it gets. This does not replace my 357 & 44 lever carbines, but does open up options...

Crowman... thanks for the info. Two questions still. Does the magwell change when the caliber changes? The JRC has a removable magazine well for the different mags, and also has the ability to use 1911 mags with 45acp, or M&P mags with 9mm. Second question... does your carbine use an AR trigger, allowing the ability to easily upgrade, like the JRC does...? Thanks.

Nope, all use double stack Glock mags, 45 ACP and 10 mm mags same size in larger frame size. Smaller frame 9mm, 357 SIG, & 40 S&W Glock mags fit in that well. Easy-peezy. Does not use single stack mags. The gun is a hybrid design. Not sure about trigger yet. Like what’s on it so far.

Thanks for the info

Just looked again on their web site...they offer a 2-stage trigger kit, a complete standard trigger, with 5# pull, and a complete match trigger with 3# pull. The Mag well and the grip are integral, and is available as a replacement part. This is what is in two sizes.

The tubular receiver is the serial numbered part, and can be built on. So you can assemble from parts, one carbine in all the listed calibers, with both grip / magazine wells. Only a few items are AR, but you can buy every part for one of these from them. Plus a complete spare spring parts kit for when stuff jumps into the weeds (or shag carpet). The hand guard extensions are specific to this gun so that the rails mate up for seamless fit. The barrel is still removable with the hand guards installed. Really a well thought out package. I only wanted the one caliber, ready to go, and am pleased so far. It does not come with sights so you can decide how you want to go...MagPul, Red Dot, Scope, holographic, etc.

I was going to buy a CX4 about two years ago. I handled several and liked the feel. I even bought three 30 round 92 mags for it.

Then the CZ scorpion carbine came out, and I nearly wept for joy. I just liked the Scorpion better. So I bought five 25 round magazines.

Then the Kriss 10mm Carbine was released, and I decided THAT was the next one I wanted. I thought I had learned not to buy magazines preemptively, because what if I change my mind................. This morning I ordered 5 Glock 20 mags for the Kriss, and don't yet own one, nor do I own a Glock 20. So hopefully no one comes out with a semiauto, detachable box carbine chambered in 44 mag, because then I'll have a lot of mags sitting around I don't need. I'm close though. $1000 in Cabela's points, and $200 in gift cards. I just need to scrounge up a few bucks and order it.

I'll probably still pick up a Scorpion, because 9mm is just fun. My Beretta looks a little silly though with a big stick hanging out the bottom. I can always dump the mags at a gun show I suppose, or maybe trade them for a set of dies or two. Or maybe even sell them here.

Lol, 460! :D

I just got some of the 20 round Beretta mags in a couple days ago. Yep, they look a little weird sticking out the bottom, but not so much as the 30 rounders. Although if you SBR'd the CX4 to a 12" barrel and put 30 round magazines in it, you'd have a mock MX4.

Edit: photo of UTG 1/2" riser and 20 round Beretta magazine now added.

460Shooter, I note your comment on a .44 Mag PCC. I'd like that, too, but a .44 AMP would be even better! Now we're getting close to Cooper's "Thumper." My palms are sweating as I type just thinking about it!

Yeah, I got a little amped up there a few times didn't I? At least I didn't buy a bunch of other accessories for those rifles.

I did pick up a Vortex Spitfire 1X to mount on something............. At least that's still relevant! I got it new in the box too for like $140. Not bad..........

I hadn't really studied it much before but the Aero looks pretty cool! Methinks a braced 10mm pistol version would be a nice setup.

It shoots better than I expected. Very pleasant experience. Now have to get more ammo to dial in my scope. The standard trigger is difficult to master, but TNW offers a 3# match trigger for the Aero. I will get one next month. I do not have any reservations about this carbine. I paired it up with a SR1911.

What caliber dies are you looking for?
Are the mags Beretta, MecGar or other brand?
I could always use good 30 round Beretta mags.

I also like the CZ. I fired one, it was very nice. If I come across a good deal on one, I'll probably get it. What can I say, I like PCCs.
I'm not a big fan of the Kriss. I've fired a couple in 45 ACP and didn't like the feel of the recoil impulse. Similar to what I didn't like about the Storm in 45. I do like the Kriss mags and picked up a couple for my Glock 21.

I've seen some accuracy testing of the Kriss and they seem OK, but I've read where some shooters have described them as having a lot of vertical motion to them - they sort of rock back at the mid-point in the gun, instead of rising at the muzzle. The criticism is that they "flex". This guy is a critic of the Kriss and focuses on the flexing phenomena:

http://www.vuurwapenblog.com/genera...d-omissions/why-i-dont-like-the-kriss-vector/

I don't know...

The criticism is that they "flex".
Some guns flex more than others. When AK fires, the barrel bends like a wet noodle (Galil does that too). Someone asked this at Ian McCollum FW Q&A and his answer was that this flexing in of itself does not mean anything at all. He said, "has no effect on longevity, reliability, or accuracy of the weapon [if properly designed]". Most shooters didn't even realize how much AK flexed until the Internet delivered the high-speed footage to their cellphones. Honestly, I suspect that the flex of Kriss belongs to the category of "thanks to the modern cameras and Internet, haters have something to parade on forums".

Pretty much.

What those same people completely fail to notice is that pretty much ALL the flexing happens AFTER the bullet has left the muzzle. So it can't effect accuracy in the first place.

All machines are subject to harmonics, even gun barrels. That is why some precision rifles have vibration dampeners fitted to the barrel. So...it is the natural order of things....no biggie.

I could always use good 30 round Beretta mags.
I'll keep that in mind if I decide to ditch them.

I'm not looking for anything hard to find, but I'm not ready to part with the mags yet. I may end up with all three carbines. They are factory Beretta and CZ made mags.

Not certain if my choice is what the OP had in mind but my Ruger Deerfield 44 magnum carbine has been a satisfactory and useful addition.

It is a little fussy about ammo. Cartridges which are too long such as the Hornady polymer tip will not fit in the magazine. Ditto some of the larger Corbon and Buffalo Bore cartridges with bullets heavier than 260 grains. I also worry that the super powered loads will "overwhelm" the operating rod. Low powered loads will not cycle the action, so a hand pull is necessary. With "standard" .44 mag loads it works quite well. Surprisingly accurate even with the cheap factory peep sight out to 150 yards.

I voted "other" with the "other" being a 9mm MechTech upper on a full size Glock based lower. Optics includes a Mueller MX1 red dot and a Crimson Trace Rail Master green laser. Currently using it this season in USPSA pistol events. Have found it to be very reliable and durable for this application. Folks at MechTech are fantastic and have provided great customer service.

Using Xtreme 124 grain CPRN with RedDot powder providing sufficient obturation, and generally CCI SPP's with very good results. This the same load I use in a Beretta 92 FS so very convenient to not have two different loads.

Welcome to The High Road, TD1.

Hickok45 posted his review today.

Lots of reliability issues with the gun he got. I have watched a few other reviews and have not seen any reliability problems from anyone else so its most likely a fluke. This is the best close up view I have seen of the gun and after looking it over I've decided that I'm not interested anymore just due to the design and aesthetics and floppy mags sticking out the bottom. When I see one in the store I will look it over and see if my opinion changes.
