Mag, it worries me when you agree with me.
What are you up to? :uhoh:

That's not right. You cannot carry a 4-inch barreled 1911 in a pocket unless it is designed to carry.

Whole issue is moot.

I feel like I have just disappeared in a poof of logic now. :)

Could people recommend some pocket holsters for my not-so-little guy? Preferably ones with a minimum amount of material used to make them. I seriously have doubts about whether I could fit the gun and a holster in my cargo pocket. I will agree that something that loops onto the belt would make me feel better about front pocket carry, but I try to avoid this as it throws off my whole system of what goes where in which pocket when I leave the house.

Thanks again!

DeSantis Nemesis. I use one for my 3" 1911, but it will work for a 4" as well--the barrel will protrude a bit, but in your pocket, who cares?

The holster will help to maintain the weapon in an upright position.

Put gun in pocket, forget about it, live normal life, sit anywhere & any way you want to.

Assuming its the only thing in your pocket, and nothing presses on the wrong spot from outside your clothing.

How critical is the in-pocket holster?

There was a story about an individual who was a LEO attending classes at a college, and who had recieved some previous threats who put a loaded gun in his backpack, and carried it that way for some length of time.

During the course of a day a pencil worked its way into the trigger guard and eventualy pulled the trigger, discharging the weapon from inside the backpack.

The same can happen with anything that can fit inside the trigger guard in your pocket, such as keys and numerous other things.

Also if you bumped something just right, or had someone sit on your lap, enough of something could wedge in the trigger area to discharge the weapon.
A holster is usualy a good idea for long term casual carry. Now if you are going to guard that area, and be careful then short term pocket carry from point a to b, or to check a noise in the night, or answer a door, transport from vehicle to location etc its fine. For casual carry when you are living life and doing other activities, something over the trigger just seems like a good idea. Even just .01% chance of an accident would be too great, because that would eventualy be met carrying a lot.
