I may have posted this elsewhere in the past i believe....

The only reason i am proud of it is because i put the rifle together myself... It shoots better than any other firearm i own... Better than me for sure....

Up to this point I'd done some minor smithing, some rebarreling and bedding and various machine work on other firearms but never a complete build... so, all of the barrel and receiver machining and blueprinting (it isn't sleeved or oversize threaded), bedding, stock work, including recheckering and finishing etc etc etc.... Only thing i didn't do was the bluing work... 700 Remington (originally an SPS that honestly was machined well to begin with right from Big Green), Douglas Match Grade XX tube cut to 24" with a Std crown, 1:12 twist, chambered in 35 Whelen AI with Intentional "excessive" headspace. Uses a stock remington trigger group that has been turned down as far as possible for consistancy... just over 3 lb... 4.5 - 14 x 40 AO Leupold Vari-X III on QR rings and bases...

I can only get just over 100 yds out of my place... The next closest backstop is about 700 yds behind the house across the field and that's the discarded bedding (sand and poop) from the dairy farm across the road... havn't had an opportunity to let her sail at anything longer... hopefully this summer...

Well, that's a nice job of plinking, boredelmo. You keep pluggin' away and before no time at all you'll be able to hit that cigarette lighter, just like them other fella's will sooner or later hit one a them coins they always seem to be shooting at but just missin'.

I hope this thread is still around next weekend, I'd like to post a couple pics too
Nice shooting everyone!

Fired today.

Springfield XD-40 at 50 ft. This was before I learned to use the "power crease" with that pistol to stop pulling the gun down (I'm a lefty).

Later on, same gun, draw from holster and single shot...repeat. Forgot the distance but probably between 35-45 ft as that's my usual practice distance.

Posted before, but I'll play. 5-shot group at 100 yards. Accurized Remington 700 VSSF in .308 shooting Federal 175gr GMM ammo from prone.

Here's mine. Unfortunately most the time they look the same after as before. (except the ones that break when they hit the ground.)

And then there's the one we use for plinking with the .22's......

My Swede M38 at 100 yards, S&B soft point, standard sights, aperture on the glasses so I could focus. Pretty pleased with this one. The sun was peeking in and out of the clouds that day, and most of my groups spread into two different areas, depending on whether the sun was out.

My 3" M66, on the day I picked it up. Every screw was loose when I got it, and I tightened everything down before I shot it. After a couple hundred rounds, everything was loose again, including the rear sight by the time I shot this target. Some loctite has since made sure that the groups stay no taller than they are wide, and some new grips made it much prettier. 15 yards, fairly mild 125 gr. handloads.

From my squirrel gun, a modified 10/22, shooting Wolf MT rather than its normal hunting load of CCI SGB. Five shot groups at 50 yards with a 6X scope. For a gun that weighs less than six pounds with scope and sling, it's pretty pleasing.

Here's the rifle:

.50 Beowulf, first 5 rounds out of the gun sighting it in at 50 yards. 400 gr. Factory loads.

A three shot group later at 100, the best 100 yard group I've fired with it. And I have not been able to work up a handload as accurate as the factory yet.

From my 1891 Argentine Mauser in 7.65x53, sporterized with peep sights, this is about how it shoots all the time with some mild 180 gr. reloads. Consistant 3 shot groups around .7-.8".

Brand new Taurus m970, just outta the box.

Shots taken at a measured 100 ft. ~33 yds.

Offhand, single action slow fire.
