Prescription Shooting Glasses?

Anyone have a recommendation for good prescription shooting glasses? My local place tried to sell me Maui Jims, and while I love their sunglasses, I really don't feel the need to drop $800 on shooting specs.

I just have polycarbonate lenses in my regular frames, and the ranges I shoot at usually think that's good enough--they aren't even wraparound.

Same. I also have a set of glasses made by a company called SportRx for more "serious" or deliberate shooting.

I have a pair of Oakly half jakets with perscription transition lenses. Transitions has a tint called autumn gold which is for shooting. They are about 600 with out insurance but with insurance i got mine for 180.

i've had poly lenses in my glasses for over 20 years, if only because they're 1/3rd the size/weight of glass lenses (+2.25 to +2.5 correction in both eyes, depending on the day of the week they measure me.) totally fine for shooting sports. I can get clip-on "wings" if I ever so choose, but i keep my hat low, my shirt collar high and my pistol straight in front of me, so I haven't much concern of anything coming at me from the side at least of my own.

I go thru a new pair of prescription sun glasses about every 24--30 months. They're usually a RayBan or Wayfarer style clone, and with insurance they run me around $180/$200 (no-branded frames, but tough). The lenses are plastic poly carbonate (or something similar), are Polarized and coated and seem pretty well made. I wear these all the time at our various ranges, indoor and out, and have only had to explain one time in long detail to an R/O why it would be much better for all involved if I can actually see clearly whilst shooting, and not to worry too much about my (already) bad eyes.....

Got my wife the ESS Suppressors. We opted with the thin metal prescription lens holders, but you can get the thicker plastic ones a little cheaper. These come with the thin earpieces that will fit under muffs, if that's something you're interested in.

The prescription inserts can be taken out to use as regular shooting glasses, but it's a little tough to do without getting fingerprints on the lenses. Maybe with some practice. They can fill the prescription for you or you can have your local glasses guy do it (their preference). We had the local guy do it. Seems like all in it was right around $200 for everything.

These glasses are super tough and interchangeable, so you can use yellow, clear, or tinted, depending on your environment.

I'd definitely buy these again. My wife hates double glasses. I wear contacts, or I'd probably use them myself.

I recently had regular lenses ground for my frames from 39dollarglasses dot something or other. google it. They were pretty good. They had an option for tinting the lenses. You can actually get a complete set of glasses cheaper than just the lenses, but I had nice frames I knew fit my face.

PS: as far as I can tell they are a legit operation. my glasses work and no funny charges have appeared on my credit card. This was 7 months ago.

Zenni optical is good, too

I just don't like their "safety glasses" options, although I always check when I'm due for an optical update.
