I am in the process of planning a bachelor party for my friends wedding. We are travelling to Manhattan for a night of debauchery, and were hoping to get in some trigger time. A few of us are shooters and CCW holders in Boston where we live, but will be having some non shooters and out of towners coming in. Since we can't bring our guns to NY, does anyone on here know of any shooting ranges in NYC that we can rent guns at? Ive tried researching online but have been so far unsuccessful so Id thought Id reach out to you guys. Any help would be greatly appreciated, our party isn't until July!

Thanks!

Keep in mind also if you're going to rent at west side range you might also have to arrange for it at least a week in advance for them to do a background check.

Sorry to spoil your fun, but in New York State, you need a NYS Pistol Permit just to touch a handgun, seriously. And since you are out-of-staters, you aren't elligible for a NYS pistol permit

ETA: this is just for handguns, I see that the above mentioned range also rents rifles.

Have a safe and fun bachelor party

fyi you need to make an appt. about a week in advance at west side. also let them know you want to use the 9mm carbines ahead of time

I used to belong to the Downtown Pistol and Rifle Club or something like that. I think it was on Murray St. between like Chambers and Broadway. You might call them, too.

This certainly was NOT true a few years ago unless there were substantial changes to the NY state pistol laws in the last few years (I am no longer a resident so have not kept up on the "minutiae" of the laws). As a club member and a licensee, I could bring guests in, even foreigners, yes, no problem. The Club manager new the laws and followed them, but this was not part of them. They also held my pistols there while I awaited my license, and I could go shoot them w/o a license under their supervision on their premises. This was the law, not them ignoring it. Now, it might have changed in the last few years.

The only other fun gun things I can think of in Manhattan is maybe check out the Beretta Gallery on the upper east side on Madison. I got a shotgun from them once and believe me, that's not my normal kinda store. This is one of their "flagship" stores that has all their branded accessories and even $60,000 double guns.

You might look into if the Museum of Natural history or other museums have any cool old collections - I never did that when I lived there.

Have fun. Tip: most of the so-called "gentleman's clubs" are neither really clubs or very gentlemanly. There's plenty of fun stuff to do in NYC - like say visiting the USS Intrepid, for a fun bachelor's party. But if you are just going one night, you may not have time to do much touristy things.

Have a great time either way!

It's not a state law but a city "rule" that requires a permit to touch a handgun. If they could, the city would make you get a permit to LOOK at a handgun

It's state law, you may not possess a handgun without a permit.

As far as museum gun collections, it's not the Museum of Natural History, it's the Metropolitan Museum's Arms and Armor collection that's incredible.
