In theory, the issuing agency (in NC it is the county Sheriff) is supposed to monitor the records of the permit holder and if anything pops up that would deny his permit, they go and retrieve it
Exactly, you don't get to keep your ltc it gets confiscated. In theory, the issuing agency (in NC it is the county Sheriff) is supposed to monitor the records of the permit holder and if anything pops up that would deny his permit, they go and retrieve it. They don't issue it and then forget about the guy for 4 or 5 years.
Yeah, LE never heard that one before. And I repeat......."And if it was "lost"...........oops."
About 10 years ago, I walked into a Cabelas that was marked as 7mm mauser on the tag, the markings on the rifle said 7.92x57. Guessing when it was entered into the computer, someone thought it was 7x57. I didn't care at the time, it was a lightly sporterized Erfurt K98 in decent condition, and going out the door at a 100 bucks. Its just interesting to watch several salesmen look at it, not once noticing the wrong markings on the tag, all the while knowing better then them.
No, not that I recall. Just your regular sale tag on the rifle. I have had that happen before at a gun show, mis lableing of a mil surp rifle. But I didn't think it would happen at Cabelas! Live and learn I guess.Good catch! How big was the tag on the Cabela's? Did it obscure the sign?
