I have a Hogue Overmolded stock set for my PGO Mossberg, mainly because I prefer the fore-end.
When I use the buttstock, I like it, however...the recoil pad is very sticky and slows shouldering. It also adds some length I don't need.
I contacted Hogue to see if they offer or could recommend a plain buttplate, but they were no help.
Any suggestions?

I don't understand...you're shouldering a pistol-grip only shotgun? Do you have a pistol-grip shotgun, or a pistol-grip-only shotgun (PGO)?

I guess I am the only one who has this issue...recoil doesn't bother me as much as a shotgun that sticks to my clothes when I shoulder it. I would have thought Hogue would offer a different buttplate...the standard one is great at handling recoil, but is just so d*** sticky....

common tactic is to wrap the recoil pad in a really thin layer of electrical tape, creating a more slippery surface.

I've used the electrical tape with some success, I used it to cover the sides of the pad and unwanted stickiness wasn't an issue after that. It looks kind of Mickety Mouse of course though.

A leather cuff that covers the pad would be the business though if you can find {or make} something suitable.
