Questions for Robert Heinlein Fans

Herself,
I really like Sue Grafton. I also like Robert Parker, Robert Crais, Andrew Vachss, Jerry Pournelle and Richard K. Morgan. I go through about 150 to 250 books a year. I think I may have librarian leanings as well as Libritarian.:)

For those who like Robert Heinlein's work and are looking for books that are similar, you might want to check out Michael Z. Williamson. His Books Freehold and The Weapon are about people from a world founded on libertarian principles. They are very entertaining and have a lot of the same flavor as RAH's work.

BTW, he occasionally pops up here on The Highroad and Oleg Volk has some pictures of his daughter.

I've met Michael Z. Williamson, haven't read his books yet but hope to get to them eventually. The covers have good blurbage. He seems a nice fellow, too.

Crash, you need to see my dining room: floor-to-ceiling bookshelves on two walls and most of a third, and still not enough room. This may be indicative of an addiction. Pity my poor hubby!

I also am a lifelong RAH fan, he got into my head as a teenager, and I also blame him for questioning authority........

Methuselah's Children and Time Enough For Love,

And my first RAH novel was The Door Into Summer. Which hooked me immediately

are among my many favorites. I also liked his short story collections.

Somekid-get on it, I would love to be able to read these for the first time..

When I was a "yout" I liked RAH, Asimov, Clarke, and some others I can't remember. Nowadays, I mostly read non fiction. When I can read SF I like Ben Bova. I just got to meet him as he gave a talk at my kids' school for their class. Great time. Got him to sign a BUNCH of books for us!!!!!

drac,
I'll check those authors out.
Herself,
Yeah I need more bookshelves too, I'm going to a sawmill this weekend to see if I can find some wood. My wife is into reading also but she tends to read higherbrow stuff than I care to.

Carpentry

Yeah I'm a really good mechanic but wood has mostly intimidated me so far. I'm willing to learn though. I'm working up to building a house.

bobaloo, you are one lucky person. I grew up reading RAH and it would be fair to say that his works are responsible for my firm conviction of self determination, self responsibility, in short my Libritarian leanings. It was always my desire to meet him and his wife some day and get to have a conversation (wishful thinking I knew).

Even some of his later works (from The Number Of The Beaston) contained gems of wisdom (Lazurus would shoot me for that) but in my opinion were mostly just entertaining.

The world is a less interesting place now that he is gone, I will miss his work.
