Good clip. Have to wonder if they subbed blanks for the .50bmg though. That box of linked .50 around $250-300 at the cheapest. Lot of high-dollar ammo to poke at the sky.
Man, I haven't seen Mail Call in months! Is it off the air? LOVE that show!
Yeah it was cancelled a while back. Got to meet the Gunny in January at the SHOT show. Super guy! He's got a new show called Lock n Load. Should be starting pretty soon on the History Channel.
Great video clips, but I thought eye protection should be a prerequisite, especially with the mishap with the Lewis gun. My favorite was the .30 cal. M1919A4 machine gun; one of the all-time classics.
I can never stop from laughing when he bawls out recruits in Full Metal Jacket. I read somewhere that none of the chewing-out monologues were scripted but were actually ad libbed by Ermey.
If you pay attention, you'll notice that R. Lee blinks extremely rarely during the movie. I'm pretty sure he never blinks when he's in a recruit's face.
Bummer for Gunny. Guess the antique firearms like the BAR, Lewis and MP 44 weren't in the best shape. Must be all the Armorer could borrow, rent or buy. The perils of rare firearms.
I bet the main reason he works for Glock as a spokesperson is to get a Glock 18 of his own. He was in love with that machinegun/pistol on Mail Call. Would have done the same.
Shot one point over from him (different relays) at Camp Perry in the Garand Match, 2008. A true gentlemen, and a damn good shot. He was not "working", on a personal vacation, and there because that's just where he wanted to be, enjoying himself. I begged off bugging him, or getting my picture with him, so he might have a better vacation, although he did not seemed bothered by any and all that he talked to or got in pictures with. He is that nice of a guy.
