Over the years I've put together small bags, big bags, roller equipped cases, all kinds of things that have served as grab it and run range equipment carriers. I always go too big or too small. My idea is to get just about everything into a case, then only have to grab a weapon and ammo and go. But I never seem to get it right. I don't take cleaning supplies with me, as I most always wait to do that back at the house. But targets, staplers, rudimentary tools, eyes and ears, etc, I have with me all the time. What kinds of cases do you guys use? I'd probably leave it in my truck, so a quick trip to the range is like I said, only a gun/ammo choice.

I never have found a one size fits all range bag. I start with an Uncle Mikes Deluxe Range Bag for the essentials -- ammo, targets, stapler/staples, eye/ear protection, hand tools, a compact spotting scope, etc. Then supplement it with a variety of other bags and storage boxes based on what I'm shooting that day.

A smaller bag from Midaway -

Here's my Midway gun bag, smaller than the above pictured but does the job for all 8 of my handguns and lots of ammo and last I chked, rather than 49.00 bucks it was on sale for 29.oo bucks and will do the job nicely and they come with metal loops, for shoulder strap/carry, not plastic like many others at this price range, KEY

I use an old camouflage large camera bag. Lots of padded dividers and pockets. I have all of my staplers, sticky targets, oil, tools, ear pro, etc. in there. Unfortunately I've found that while I can cram ammo and mags in there, it gets prohibitively heavy. I usually just keep a brick of .22 in the range bag and all the ammo, magazines, and pistols in cases go into a backpack.

I have a black Argus laptop bag. Works perfect. Got a nice compartment for a pistol and ammo, and a partitioned compartment for the little stuff, oil, gun rag, small tools, earplugs, glasses etc. On each side is another zippered compartment made for papers, one of them is like a mini file folder and it holds targets just right the other is smaller and fits my shoot and see stickies perfect. On the file folder compartment is a velcro pouch, great for tossing brass back into if you reload. I have had one for over 10 years and it has held up great.

Has a black carry handle. Cost about $40 a long time ago. Probably less now. Just a little over a foot square and about 8 inches thick when it is loaded for the range.

A plastic 5-gallon bucket and one of these.

If you wear yourself out carrying it, you can set down on it and rest!

The bucket also makes a great container for picking up brass when you get done shooting.

Of course, the Tackycool shooters will laugh at you, but you are the one setting on the bucket, not them.

They are just jealous cause they can't set on their $100 buck range bags!

I like the Eagle bags. Very sturdy and can carry 6 pistols, 1000 rounds of ammo and the straps, seams and zippers are well constructed.

Another vote for the big MidwayUSA bag.

Nice thing about it is that smaller bag inside that pulls out for going to the line, or from stage to stage in a match.

I pack all sorts of stuff into mine. Foamy hand soap, a brass stuck bullet rod, chamber flags, really just name it and you'll find a spot in the bag for it.

+1 on the Craftsman tool bag. It's the best range bag I'v ecome accross. Plenty of room and lots of pockets to store gear and ammo.
