My darling wife just bought me 2# Reloader 17 a Bergerger 6.5mm 140gr hybrid target bullets for my 6.5 Creedmoor. Are these good choices? any load thoughts? Thanks!

I got a couple hundred of the same bullets. I am not sure if reloader 17 is a good match, but I know there are those here that do.

I'm using the 123gr amax in my Creedmoor, but I am working on a load with the very berger bullet you are asking about. I am using accurate 4350 for my loading

I have read several articles about Reloader 17 in the 6.5 cartridges and they say it works really well. I use Reloader 17 in 25-06, 270 Winchester and 30-06 rifles with Berger hybrid bullets and I prefer Reloader 17 over other powders I have used in the past. Reloader 17 is said to give the highest velocity under adverse conditions. Alliant is currently coming out with a new powder called Reloader 16 which is similar to Reloader 17 and is said to not be affected by temperature change. Both powders are in the 4350 burn range and I will try Reloader 16 to see how it compares to Reloader 17. Load data looks to be basically the same for both powders. I think your wife made a good choice.

I looked at my Berger book but didn't see a load for their 140 grain hybrid. I did see where a shooter using a Surgeon rifle started with 41 grains of Reloader 17 with a Sierra 142 grain matchking for a velocity of 2698 and a group of .573 at 100 yards. His load of 42.5 grains of Reloader 17 showed a velocity of 2831 with new cases and a 5 shot group of .592 at 100 yards. With once fired cases and 42.5 grains of Reloader 17 a 5 shot group was .477 with a velocity of 2828. Higher than that the groups opened up to 1.022 with 43.4 grains at velocity of 2911. Interesting data.

it's a fantastic choice for accuracy and velocity. i've probably shot maybe 6000-7000 rounds of that but in a 260AI and 260rem. past 2 years i have switched to H4350 just because it was what i had and powder is hard to come by, and H4350 is way less temp sensitive.

The previous weekend the same load produced a similar 5-shot group (non-suppressed) with an average velocity around 2,850 fps. The suppressor adds about 60 fps. I'm currently using the old 140gr A-MAX but have700 of the new ELD version arriving any day now. I have 600 of the 130gr Berger VLD bullets but use those for my gf's 6.5x47. The A-MAX bullets are very good so I'm not in any hurry to try the Bergers in my 6.5 CM.
