I just did some 32 SW reloads for plinking use in my 32 conversion cylinder I was reloading with BP
so feel its more applicable here than in the reload section.

I reload .38 S&W top break revolvers with about 6 grains of FFFFg black powder and the 77 grain Lyman bullet for my S&W antique revolvers and similar 1880 era guns. This works fine with no serious pressure issues, but your mileage may be different. Smokeless powder may be way more pressure than these guns can handle. Beginning about 1920 most manufacturers proofed their guns for smokeless powder load. Before that is any one's guess and you are on your own---

I reload .32 S&W Short with a .32 auto die set and 78 gr. RN bullets from Acme in my Pietta Remington clone's conversion cylinder. These bullets are .313 diameter.

I have used Trail Boss smokeless powder with no ill effects. However, these conversion cylinders may not hold up under long usage with smokeless powders. Users beware.

What Diameter bullets are you loading.

.314 home cast

I did do some smokeless rounds a couple of years back but measuring accurately about 1 grain was a real problem with the tools i have.

The conversions are made to shoot smokeless powders, they last. It's the guns themselves, the frames and barrels, that may not last, but I have yet to here of someone who regularly shot low power smokeless loads using LEAD bullets have a conversion gun not last.

Trail Boss would be fine, but I think for defense 4F black powder would be best. Just have a feeling it will produce higher velocities than any smokeless powder will in the .32 cartridge.

Thanks. Everything I've tried, for my Pietta Remington has come up short at the firing line. Even .315 round ball through the percussion cylinder was woeful. I don't expect bulls eye accuracy but at 12 yards keeping anything resembling a group was impossible. The .311 bullets from the 32S&W just rattle down the bore. In the process the front sight, then the loading lever retention stud fell off and was lost. Its been out to a gunsmith for over a year now for repair. If and when I get it may be listed in these pages for sale or trade. :( The piece in question.
