Somebody on another forum I frequent was wondering if it was even remotely possible to get the 870 MCS in the 18" configuration. I've searched the forums here and found virtually no mention of it, so I figured I'd ask.

How many plane jane 870 could you buy for the price of one of the 870 MCS? But it dose look cool. :)

the MCS only comes as the complete modular kit (all 3 bbls, 2 mag extensions, etc.). individual pricing is $1340.95. and remember, 2 of those bbls are 10" and 14". :uhoh:

i think your friend would be better served by an 870p, have it threaded for chokes and drilled and tapped for a rail. add the pistol grip full stock and you're done.

And that's not counting all the SBS (short barreled shotgun) paperwork AND COSTS either.

Ouch...

lpl/nc (makes a $145 used Express Turkey Gun look awful good...)

I got to play with one at the factory. Man it is sweet! The 10" barrel is tiny and makes it very compact. Still could use some tweaking, though.

Get an 870P MAX it's all dressed up and ready to party, and basically the 18" part of the MCS without the quick-change stock.

MCS-- available to civilians? Why certainly!

Hello All,

While doing a google serach of the MCS I came across this forum. Let me go on record as to say that the Remington MCS is available for civilian purchase. I know this because according to Remington I am the first individual to purchase one as the end user, transferee. Someone asked if the MCS transfers as an AOW or an SBS, the answer is AOW, believe it or not. Which is great news, $5 beats $200 any day! Of course the bad news is that you must live in an area that allows for NFA ownership. Since I will be the only person in the country who privately owns one of these it will get lonely. It was an experience trying to acquire it, if you think you can get one transferred to you, email me for some helpful hints.
