Rev. Jesse Jackson Arrested at Gun Shop Protest
Sunday , June 24, 2007

CHICAGO —

The Rev. Jesse Jackson was arrested Saturday at a demonstration outside a south suburban gun shop and charged with one count of criminal trespass to property.

Jackson was arrested when he refused to move away from the entrance to Chuck's Gun Shop in Riverdale, police said. He has protested with other community activists outside the shop in recent weeks after a 16-year-old honor student was gunned down on a city bus.

Police said the shooting was gang-related but the teen was not the intended target.

Jackson, who says the gun shop's proximity to Chicago provides gang members and criminals easy access to firearms, has used the protests to call for stricter gun laws.

The Rev. Michael Pfleger, a Catholic priest who oversees a South Side congregation, also was arrested and charged with Jackson.

A message seeking comment from the gun shop was not immediately returned Saturday afternoon.

Two teens have been charged as adults with taking part in the May shooting of Blair Holt, an honor student at Julian High School.

As usual Jesse's efforts are misplaced.
Saying the gun shop is an easy place for crimminals to get guns shows he has no comprehension nor does he care to know that crimminals cannot legaly buy guns.

Must be fundraising time at the coalition.

As I understand the issue he was protesting because the shop has sold a large percentage of weapons used in crimes. Is this true? Is crime in that area higher than normal? Were they real gun crimes? Why would this shop account for more?

JJ and his new sidekick do seem to thrive on attention. But what is the issue here? If Jesse has no case than he should be dismissed. But what is his case based on?

Fr. Pfleger

This is the gentleman who announced at an earlier anti-gun rally at Chuck's that he would drag owner John Riggio out of his store and "snuff him."

As a writer, I like seeing this sort of thing because I now know how I will be spending my Monday morning. :D

He made that claim recently.

A newsperson asked him for ANY supporting evidence.

<sound of crickets>

That newsperson is STILL waiting for the slightest SHRED of proof...

Keep a watchful eye on Jesse. His usual modus operandi is shaking down corporations for a Rainbow PUSH payoff (i.e., General Electric, Toyota Motors, IIRC), but this doesn't jibe. Where's the money in hassling a mom & pop gun store proprietor? There is NONE directly, but there is anti-gun legislation floating through the U.S. House of Representatives and we know what the current majority thinks of our guns. I smell a propaganda rat. Anyone want to place a wager on the number of days it takes before he's onscreen with Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) or maybe Chuck Schumer (D-NY)? Carolyn McCarthy KNOWS public support for her bill will be minimal at best when it hits the Senate.

Jesse's playing the pawn and he knows his protest won't be very newsworthy without an arrest.

I wish racism would end. JJ doesnt want this. He feeds off of it. If racism ended today all the Jesse Jacksons of the world would be out of a job.

i would agree that this is a ploy to gain more anti-gun public sentiment, and i would be at all surprised to see him onscreen with mccarthy in the near future. but frankly, i think the dems are going to wait it out until the presidency is decided before they try to push through any significant anti-gun measure.

folks...that gives you until january 2009 to buy any semi-autos on your wish list. you might be SOL after that...

Jesse Jackson is a fool and you're definitely right about him shaking down corporations for money. He recently went after the Atlanta Braves for not having enough black people on the team since only one player is listed as black and not hispanic. I have no idea what he's trying to accomplish with this protest, but hopefully he'll got to jail for a while (I know, pointless dreaming).

I really wish Mr. Jackson would avail himself of his right to remain silent.

Jefferson

Jesse isn't stupid. He's in it for the money. Now, he's grooming his son to follow in his footsteps, so we can all look forward to another 30 or 40 years of this.

My real problem is with the priest. I don't believe anyone has a 1st Ammendment right to publicly advocate murdering anyone. Doesn't this qualify as a terroristc threat?

Well I still stand by my belief that the preist actually meant something else and used a bad choice of words. But either way if you want to talk about terroristic threats then you should also arrest some THR members for those as well.

I think I heard the priest was claiming that "snuff" didn't actually mean murder or kill.

If there was any proof of straw purchases going on, you would think there would be an easy way for the police/local ATF to work with the store owner to identify them and go after the straw purchasers. Otherwise, it is just political posturing.

Well I still stand by my belief that the preist actually meant something else and used a bad choice of words.

Collin Raye

That's my story.
Oh, that's my story.
Well, I ain't got a witness, and I can't prove it,
but that's my story and I'm stickin' to it."

'When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said, in a rather scornful tone,' it means just what I choose it to mean, neither more nor less.'

You can literally claim ANYTHING. That doesn't mean that anyone is going to believe it. And in this case almost no one does. The priest is LYING, pure and simple. If you choose to believe that lie, well then that's your choice. I've known people who chose to believe that 9/11 was an inside job, and others who chose to believe that the Holocaust never happened.

As to "threats" made on THR, how MANY of those threats were made within FEET of the alleged threatened party AND those presumably exhorted to carry out those threats?

You might want to look up the phrase, "clear and present danger"...

If there was any proof of straw purchases going on, you would think there would be an easy way for the police/local ATF to work with the store owner to identify them and go after the straw purchasers.
A reporter actually ASKED Jackson for proof of his accusations about Chuck's. Jackson admitted that he had NONE.

Jackson is a LIAR.

Pfleger is a LIAR.

Any "argument" founded EXCLUSIVELY on LIES has NO merit at all.

Anyone who doesn't believe me can ask David Irving, who is EXACTLY the same kind of LIAR as Jackson and Pfleger.

"Well I still stand by my belief that the preist actually meant something else and used a bad choice of words."

He said he wanted to drag him out on the sidewalk, and snuff him. What else could he have meant?

As far as arresting THR members, well, people probably aren't going to pay nearly as much attention to them as they are to someone who is speaking to the media, and getting national attention. Still, I wish they had been a bit more restrained.

I'm sure that the bureau is aware of the numbers. This is the main reason for the Tiahrt amendment(right? Or is it something else?) to restrict tracing data.

If someone's supplying the black market out of his shop, I dont' think it'd happen for very long before the bureau sets up a sting and catches the straw purchaser.

Sounds like Rev Jackson is having a spot of 'Attention Deficit', actually withdrawal from any publicity is having an affect on him. I suggest that he be put in the same facility as Paris Hilton. Nope, won't work, different legal/administrative jurisdictions, besides, it would be cruel an unusual punishment for Miss Hilton. So traumatic.

Feed summed it up nicely, but I will add only that that is the way the far left side thinks when it comes to any problem. Blame the tool, or the drug, or the car, or whatever, not the totaly useless peice of human waste that did the deed. Sad because they do know better, they are just doing political grandstanding for their own political advancement.

If I were the gun store owner, I might fear for my life while Jesse and his clan are on my property and have to take appropriate action if I am on my property and one of them assaulted me...

Doesn't Jesse have better things to do, like his adulterous relationship and embezzel and squander millions of the Coalisions money?
