So, I was considering sending in a couple of Glock slides to get milled so they would accept a Red Dot. I came across info about a type of RDS that wouldn't require milling but instead is just a replacement for the existing rear sight on Glocks and Smith M&Ps. It's the Leupold DeltaPoint and I thought I'd give one a try and here is my report. I used a generic sight pusher and installation took about 10 minutes. The sight itself is essentially an elongated peep sight, which turns out to be ideal as a backup in case your battery fails -- you just use the peep like any other, find your front sight post and you're in business. Moreover, when you zero the DeltaPoint you can use the same method -- activate the red dot then co-witness it with your front sight, making adjustments as necessary before you even fire a shot and the thing is zeroed! I put the DeltaPoint on my Glock 20, which I carry when hiking so shots beyond 10 yards would be quite possible if I'm going to use the gun. So far, I'm quite pleased. If it craps out in the next few months, I'll provide an update....
