I stumbled on this article this morning as I was trying to remember the name of the ratchet on the rear of a revolver cylinder. Probably written by bad AI. I thought you guys would get a good laugh at the stupidity.

Good grief; Lucky Gunner is generally an ok place. What damnfool wrote this? Maybe a 23 year old square gun guy, who has never actually fired a revo...
There certainly have been some recoil operated revos, the Webley Fosbery (see this month's Firearms News for a look at Sean Connery's godawful Zardoz movie). The Mateba, somewhat akin to the bottom chamber firing Chiappa, has been seen more recently. It actually looks interesting, but I'm pretty sure it's out of production.

This one was quite funny ...

8. What happens if the cylinder is not aligned properly?

If the cylinder is not properly aligned, the next round may not feed into the chamber correctly, resulting in a malfunction and preventing the gun from firing.

Well, this one was a head-scratcher, too. A 'seal'?!?

15. Can a revolver be fired without the cylinder?

No, a revolver cannot be fired without the cylinder since it houses the ammunition and also provides a seal necessary for the gases to propel the bullet effectively.

I'm surprised they didn't discuss how to do a tap-rack of a revolver cylinder ...

Did this stuff originally come from some video game?

Gunwriter Dean Speir (Industry Insider, Firearms Fourth Estate, etc.) put together the original "The Gun Zone" website (still available on the Wayback Machine). I'm sure Dean is spinning in his grave right now.

What a steaming pile of garbage. The article claims it was written by a Marine veteran. I’d have a hard time believing it was written by AI as even AI is better than what is presented in that article.

This is actually sad. Whoever it was written by knows almost nothing about a revolver. And yet if some total newbie reads it trying to learn something they will get seriously misinformed. They will think they got good info from a Marine vet. I can't believe no one posted scathing comments on it...and yet I didn't either.

That's not a 'real' website. I had a few article on the original 'Gun Zone' (Dean published my first article, actually) and it was well-run, expertly edited and great reading. This is a bot-driven affiliate bait site; I've had several articles, including my name and bio, stolen and used on such a site. It's some sort of template they port an original website into, and fill it with affiliate links. Then they have bot-written (not even quality AI, since the grammar and syntax are horrific) articles stuffed with more links.

"On the internet, nobody knows you're a dog" has never been more true.

Hey, let's not be dissing old 950s! This .22 is a .22 Short, though it's not clear what purpose it really was to solve, it works and shoots straight!

I collect the old tip up Beretta guns. I love them (for no good reason) .

I was pointing out that Beretta used "calibre" and cartridge synonymous

I have found that if I start reading an online article and it sounds wrong, whacky or downright stupid I a scroll to the bottom of the page and more often than not there is some blurb about the site being “an Amazon Partner”. Amazon uses AI to write articles and any links to products in these articles take you to some item for sale on Amazon.

I will try to find some and post them later…probably tomorrow.

Here are a few:

Gun cleaning solvents…this guy knows all about ‘em.

Revolver cleaning. So informative:

Are you an Aesthete for revolver cases? Weird…

I know we’re in the revolver forum but here are some others:

How to clean an AR-15…right!

Want to attach a sling to an AR-15? Here’s how. 🤪

Okay, you're forgiven. ;)
A buddy and I used to sit on an abandoned railroad trestle with a 6 pack of beer, a pack of latex balloons, and a couple of 950 Berettas. We'd drink the beer, blow up the balloons, and toss them off to sink with those dern little .22 shorts. We hit them at amazing distances...well, okay, we'd correct for shell splash. Like a miniature Battle of Jutland. Unlike the Germans, no balloons escaped.

These garbage AI articles are literally ruining the internet. No matter what you search for it’s like half the results every time.
