I thought I remembered reading a thread on these recently, but my THR Search-Foo has let me down and I can't find it any more.

I just ordered some of the RMR 147 gr. FMJ Match Winners to try out. Any links to that other thread that I can't find, or any other comments on these bullets? Likes/dislikes? Good loads with them?

Some powder choices I currently have that might work well:

Titegroup
Bullseye
BE-86
WST
N320
HP-38/W231

I bought some but can’t use them. Both of my 9mm guns are CZ with tight chambers. If they are like the 124’s they will shoot very well.

You can use them in your CZ as long as the brass you use is SAAMI spec. The issue with seating them deep is only an issue with cases that are too thick up on the body. I've had several guys tell me that they will work with CCI, Federal, and Speer brass. You might try that brass. We realize that most people like to use mixed range brass for reloading so thats why we recommeded against using them in short throat guns.

I personally use 4.2 grains of BE86 and I seat out to 1.145. Those are very long but my 2011 seems to love them.

I bought some from Everglades and the oal kind of worries me that I’m going to have too much pressure or not enough. I can seat out farther with my Glock but my Shield won’t go into battery half the time. They pass a plunk test so I am doing something wrong. I’m using Titegroup which doesn’t have a great amount of tolerances from minimum to max. Most I loaded with Unique to have a little more leeway in charges.

Me likes. I'm still working on winning matches, but in the meantime...

147gr RMR FPMW, 3.3gr Titegroup, 1.120 COL, Vel Avg 888
147gr RMR FPMW, 3.6gr N320, 1.120 COL, Vel Avg 895 (My current go to load)
147gr RMR FPMW, 3.5gr SP, 1.120 COL, Vel Avg 887
147gr RMR FPMW, 3.4gr W244, 1.120 COL, Vel Avg 867
147gr RMR FPMW, 3.9gr WSF, 1.120 COL, Vel Avg 902

Loading these to the 125-130 PF reduces recoil relative to their lighter cousins. The only issue I've encountered is a couple of 1911s that don't feed flat points reliably, but that's not the bullet. I've obtained RMR's 147 FMJ round noses and am currently running those as well. I've yet to determine if there's any advantage to either 147. I run mixed HS brass - test loads are a single HS, but it'll vary between what the LE's leave on the range. FC, WIN, RP, Blazer, and GFL are predominate.

I just worked up some 147 grain loads with Zip and Silhouette.

RMR fmj flat nose matchwinner. OAL 1.10"
Winchester primers
Mixed brass
Kahr CM9 firearm

Zip 7 shot velocity averages:
3.4gr=823fps
3.5gr=829fps
3.6gr=835fps
3.7gr=838fps
3.8gr=862fps
3.9gr=878fps

Silhouette 7 shot velocity averages
4.4gr=849fps
4.5gr=869fps
4.6gr=880fps
4.7gr=887fps
4.8gr=900fps
4.9gr=929fps

All cycled action and locked slide properly. Zip had overall extreme spread of 38-48 compared to Silhouette's 31-58. Both were cleaner burning than my usual Longshot loads.

I chose not to try win 231 with these bullets because of expected velocity (755-845 in my manuals) being too low to make IDPA power factor.

This testing is from last summer. I've since loaded and shot about 500 rounds with 4.6 grains of Silhouette and 147gr hwmw. It's a surprisingly well mannered load. In my m&p full sized, it is markedly milder than my 115gr/Longshot loads, and a little cleaner too.

I wouldn't recommend the faster burning powders like Zip or bullseye if you want/need to make a certain power factor with 147s. I'd stick with ones in the burn rate neighborhood of Silhouette and power pistol.

Thanks for the replies so far guys.

I have been shooting the RMR 124 gr. MHP (JHP) rounds for a couple of years and love them. I just thought I would try out the 147 gr. ones and see how they feel.

I will definitely be looking to make minor PF with a bit extra for safety margin, so around 132-134 PF or so, which means I need to come in at around 900 fps.

For the 124 gr., I am stuck on 4.1 of Titegroup at 1.10". I have tried everything else I can think of, but keep coming back to TG as it just seems to work the best for any 9mm round I have tried.

I forgot, I also have some Sport Pistol and Power Pistol that I could use as well.

Thanks. I seem to have lots of fast powders for pistol now that I look at my list of options. I might consider some Silhouette...

I do have some BE86 already, but 1.145" is probably a bit long for my gun. I am loading for a SIG P320 X-5 (5" barrel). I might try a bit shorter with a bit less powder and work up.

132 is also my "comfortable" minor PF, but with an ES such that the minimum PF is greater than 125, and that would be measured against a sample of 10 from the production batch of mixed headstamps.

Titegroup has a lot of "pros" going for it, and I did have another data point.

I also run the 124gr FPMW at 1.120" with 4.1gr of Titegroup and it's a decent round. I've been weaning myself off Titegroup to either IMR Target or N320 or Sport Pistol(SP).

I should point out that my velocities are out of a 3" barrel, so my suggestion to use mid-range burn rate powders with 147s probably isn't necessary with your 5.5" barrel. With silhouette, I suspect you will hit 900fps with a low charge weight. That may not be ideal.

All of these shot well for me.
If I remember correctly the CFE-P load was the most accurate, AA#2 was a close second.
