so I got scammed on armslist this weekend, and while I was sitting around on my days off feeling sick about it I stumbled into a deal on another gun on my short list. Honestly the whole DW 44 thing made me feel so sick I almost took it as a message from a higher power to quit buying firearms, but I also wanted something to show for the money I was missing. So I either got a really great deal on this Ruger or I paid twice as much as it's worth, depending on how you look at it. I'm just happy to have a gun headed my way after all that.
I am excited about this Ruger because it ticks a lot of boxes for me. I don't have and have wanted a single action, and the Ruger single actions have always looked good to me. I wanted a 41 magnum because up to a certain bullet weight on paper it offers 44-like performance, and people claim that it shoots flatter and has less recoil. I know the benefits of 41 over 44 are marginal and even arguable, but I've had 41 in my head for a while. I know what the strengths of 44 are over 41. I've also admired Bisley frames. Lastly, after having the DW 44 fall through I just had a big bore itch that needed scratched I guess.
Someone traded this in to a gun shop NIB, and the price was better than used, so it takes a little bit of the sting off getting taken for the non-existent DW. Looking forward to getting this and taking it out for its first shots. This is pistol #7 in my safe, and maybe a 7 day set is a good place to stop. Never say never, but I am going to try to just enjoy the ones I have instead of endlessly buying more of them.
