Ruger discontinuing 7-1/2"?

I heard a rumor today that Ruger has discontinued production of their Vaqueros in 7-1/2" barrel length. Can anyone verify this?

I haven't heard that one before, they still list the 7 1/2" in their catalog?:confused:
 
That sort of really long-nosed Vaq just...doesn't make much sense, to me.

With modern ammo, you only need that kind of barrel length for hunting. And if you're going to do long-range shooting, you need better sights.

Just my opinion...

Functionally, I would agree. But, as is the case with many facets of cowboy shooting, asthetics place as big a role as function - some folks would argue even more than function.

As part of some "git ups", the long-barreled smoke poles just seem to fit better.

When the Vaq first came out, there was a huge demand for the 7.5. ONe of those Wyatt Earp movies had just come out. After that died down, the shorter ones took over
