I have a chance to pick up this rifle, which is like new, with a Simmons scope (don't know specs) and a dosko hard case for $375.
I really don't know squat about the 25-06 round.

Is this a good "all around" cartridge for hogs, deer, etc? Is this cartridge popular? Is it inherently accurate or innacurate?

Is this a good rifle? It feels pretty well made. Stainless with composite stock.

Thanks,
Gary

Looks LIke this one except stainless and scoped.

.25-06

The 25-06 is a great round. It is a 30-06 necked down to .257. I have a MkII in the "standard" Synth. stock, and ss barrel. I load a 75 gr. Hornady V-Max in it for groundhogs, etc, and use a Sierra 120 gr. hpbt for deer. Very accurate and effective. If that particular gun is in good shape, no rust nor pitting, etc, sounds like a great buy. Good shooting!

don't know about ruger 77, though i think they are good rifles. .25-06 is a great round, good for medium game, good all around cartridge.
