Ruger Mini in .300 AAC Blackout?

Any chance Ruger will produce the Mini in .300 AAC Blackout? If the Blackout will work though existing Ruger .223 mags this could be a really interesting alternative to the .223 version. Might even put the Mini-30 out of business. Just wondering...

I kind of doubt it since the mini 30 works just fine, shoots a more powerful cartridge that's much cheaper.

The ONLY reason 300aac exists is that the x39 case is poorly suited to the ar15 platform. In a platform that can run x39 just fine there's no point.

True, but Ruger never seemed to loose an opportunity to sale some more firearms to a hot trendy market;

SR9 for striker fire fans

LCP for the 380 pocket gun fans

LC9 to bite into Kel Tec's PF9 market share of their hot selling pistol

AR like everybody else

The regular mini will only need a new barrel and maybe spring. The 300aac blackout will use the same mags and bolt face. The engineers can make one pretty quick.

.300 Blackout has such a tiny percentage of the market, I highly doubt they would re-tool when, as mentioned they already offer the same rifle in a much more popular .30 caliber.

That would actually be pretty cool.

The blackout is ballistically very similar to a .357 mag fired from a carbine. A mini so chambered would be about as close as one could get to having a semi-auto analogue to the Marlin 1894C.

I would bet on it, for a couple reasons:
-the cost to make it is nothing more than a barrel - everything else stays the same
-Ruger has a history of jumping on new cartridge ideas, or even making up their own
-300BLK is going to see a huge marketing push this year from the Freedom Group, and Ruger could have about the only non-AR semiauto rifle chambered for it if they do a mini-14 in 300BLK

The only "marketing" that would push 300 BLK into a bigger market is if they start selling the ammo cheaper. Since this won't happen, 300 BLK will be the 6.8 SPC of 2016 (forgotten by all but the most hard-line supporters).

Few cartridges will ever be as cheap as the .223 or 7.62x39mm.

I suspect if sales of the mini 30 were lagging they would look at it if there was enough 300 popularity. New cartridges help drive sales. If that happens and they stop making the X39, better scoop one up.

Ruger jumped on the 6.8 spc bandwagon and dove right back off about five years later. I doubt they've learned their lesson. You might just see a Mini-300 yet, the question really is why would you want one when the mini-30 is readily available and better in almost every way.

Spoken like someone with thousands of dollars sunk in gen-1 6.8 SPC stuff. I guess we'll see.

I can buy 300BLK ammo for 55 cents/rd from several places already. Not as cheap as 30 cents/rd .223, but well below 6.8 SPC or most new production .308.
