Ruger's survey

Interesting survey. With Remington and Mossberg, pump and semi-auto shotguns are a hyper competitive market so Ruger needs to be careful.

Lever action rifles are a natural market for Ruger but I suspect Henry Rifle and (eventually) Marlin would provide some very stiff competition. Still, I think they could do OK here, much like they currently do with bolt-action rifles.

Why would age and gender be required for a survey like this? Smelled fishy to me. Passed on it.

Market demographics. If (for example) there was strong support for say lever guns from the 60+ age group and strong support for a .308 Mini-14 from the 30+ age group, it might well help them decide where to invest their time and money.

Similarly if something really spiked amongst women, they might well develop the product in part because it would be terrific PR even if the overall demand was less than other firearms.

The main thing I'd like to see (other than continued little variations amongst their SA revolvers) is more of their modern-style leverguns. And though I'm not planning on buying one, their niche of having a semi-auto .44 was really unique on the market. Plus I could imagine there being more market for such a traditionally-stocked semi-auto now that a few more states have added AWBs.

If they bring the 96/22 levergun back, this time they should offer threaded barrels for it, and/or work in a shrouded barrel so it can be 16" and still add a suppressor without adding length, like this:

It'd be an awesome combination of extremely fast and extremely quiet.

I have no interest in Ruger making more AR-15s, that's such a saturated market.

On the question asking my opinion about why their sales are high, I put because the SR series are great pistols for the money and said that they might get more business if they offered ones without a Mag Safety, manual safety, or loaded chamber indicator. My SR9c is great but it would be just a little better without these things. :D

Done and thanks for linking to the survey. I went with a lever gun, a pump shotgun, and a compact striker fired .45. Would like to have a write in vote for bringing back the Security/Service/Six series.

Now that they have given up on California...they just might

Did mine yesterday.
As many said here lever action, I'll be waiting to see if they come out with one. :)

A Ruger lever action rifle? Say in .357 magnum with a 10-round magazine? Stainless steel with wood furniture? Modern aperture sights?

YES, YES, YES and YES!
Indeed. I don't know if I care if it is traditional (like Winchester) or more along the lines of the ones they used to make which were more reminisent of the Savage 99 with no exposed hammer. In this day and age, I think the lever action powerful pistol caliber carbine with apeture sights would be a monster hit.

How about a lever action with a detachable rotary magazine in .223/556!!! Oh my gosh I want that!!!

I wish they would have let us write in other options on our wish list.

Same here. Years ago Ruger proclaimed they were coming out with a good quality SxS shotgun. Even advertised it. While they made a few O&Us I never saw a SXS.

+1 for a mini 14 that would accept AR mags. I would buy one in less than a heartbeat

Interestingly Bill Ruger got into the firearms business by modifing a Savage 99. It was also the style he liked when he introduce the the 44 Mag Deerslayer Semi auto carbine which of course was the inspiration for the 10/22. I suspect another semi auto in 44 or 357 mag is forthcoming.

Kind of funny about brand loyalty. People want Ruger to make guns that are, in most cases, readily available by other companies. But we want a Ruger one.

Personally I would like to see them make a LCR with hammer and 3" bbl in .22LR as a lightweight trail gun.

I also voted for a .357/44 rifle though I probably would never buy one.

Not given a choice but I think they should also make a pistol caliber carbine again preferably in 9 mm. I think PCCs are making a comeback and a 9mm take down version like their take down 10/22 would be cool.

Oregon Johnny and I are the only ones that voted for LCP in 22 lr? I honestly think we will see one of those in the near future. It just seems logical to me. They did it with the LCR, next step should be the LCP.

kingfish, yes an SR1911 in other calibers would be nice. If they were to make a semi-auto handgun in 357, I wonder what frame they would use?!

As far as "brand loyalty" goes. We have 7 Rugers in our collection. Only 1 has had a possible issue the magazine. But the jury is still out on that one. The others have been flawless as of yet. If that is classified as "brand loyalty", oh well.

Lever actions in straight wall cartridges seem to not stay in the racks long in my area.
