I've watched a number of videos showing how much a 5.56 will penetrate so you're singing to the choir. There are a number of threads on this forum claiming that a 5.56 won't go through more than 1 sheet of drywall two at most.

I had a .22lr subsonic through 2 drywall sheets and lodge in a bag of charcoal.

In 1980 relief pitcher Goose Gossage of the New York Yankees threw a fresh strawberry from a distance of 60 ft. 6 in.
It penetrated a 2 inch thick solid oak door.

You hear about so many home invaders wearing body armor, after all. A pistol will be easier to maneuver
in tight spaces, and not as hard on the eardrums, in the house.
Really? Not where I live.....most crooks can't afford body armor and don't know the first thing about it.

They must not have tried shooting a stack separated by 4" gaps to simulate walls and room spaces.

I watched a number of them one evening and all of them had the dry wall separated, some by 2X4 and some stacked on end with about 6 inches between each sheet. The 5.56 definitely went through 4 or 5 sheets before it disintegrated one video had about 7 sheets penetrated. After that 7th sheet I doubt the fragments would have injured anyone.

I USED to shoot at the infamous Dons Guns in Indy. They rated #1 in in guns traced back in crimes nationwide. In all that time I NEVER saw a 'ghetto rat' practice at the range. I shot 3 times a week for years and NEVER saw one practicing. I think they buy something off the street, box one box of ammo, and call it a day.

They practice, they just don't tend to do it at a public range. Railroad sidings, abandoned lots, etc. We had an officer involved shooting about 15-20 years ago now that started off as a shots fired heard call from some gang bangers practicing on a railroad siding. It was a social thing for them, once a week they'd head over there and shoot, usually shot about 100 rounds a piece. Surprised the heck out of me when I found that out, as most of the guys I worked with wouldn't shoot that in a year.

They seem to have good prices. Unfortunately:
  1. The closest store is a good 60-100 miles away.
  2. I've got no place to shoot the AR I already have.
So I'll stick with Fin, Feather, Fur.
